Great restaurant. Good service. The chips and salsa are great. The enchiladas were okay but a bit mushy and did not taste very fresh. They were mushy. Chicken fajitas were fantastic. Just ate there about an hour ago. Juan was my server. He was awesome. Very knowledgeable about the menu and what was on the different dinners and even how they were prepared. I was probably a little needy, but he kept a huge smile on his face the entire time. I ended up with the taco plate and it was very good. Margarita was very good as well. Unfortunately I live in Ft. Worth so I can’t frequent Gringos very often. But this is my go to when I stay overnight in Texas City the night before my cruise. Thanks for the great experience Juan. Edit* Gave this place a 2nd try and they redeemed themselves a bit. I loved my shrimp meal. My son said his nachos were ok. Got the rib eye street tacos. Very dry meat and oily tortillas. Definitely needed to be soaked in a sauce and then put on the tortilla. They did give a little cup of salsa but not the same. Decided to try their fajitas. I couldnt be much more disappointed. $20.99 for 8 small strips of meat. Angela, our server, was consistently coughing and not trying hard to hide it. Ordered curbside and this would have been a lot quicker if I went in, got a table, ordered a meal, and had it packed up to go. Ordered nothing more than a kid's Taco at 3:30 p.m. arrived at 3:45 and sent in my text. Received a text at 3:49 saying that the order was ready. Waited...Waited...Waited... 4:09pm finally brought out. As a mom who thought this was a great idea to put in a simple order for my son so I can get to work, this was not a convenient option. I ordered my food at 7:18 and didn’t receive my food until 8. The kicker is that whilst orders are accumulating the workers are on their phones not caring. No one answered phone calls so I was stuck until a gentleman came and asked for my name. He went inside and picked our food up off the floor. First time trying this place, was not that impressed. We ordered a queso appetizer, and our food came out, and we still never got it. When I asked the waitress to just cancel it, she was like I already cashed out your ticket can you just take it to go. We told her no and that was like the worst thing we could say to her, after that there was no more service. We were brought our ticket by another server paid and left. The food is always good here. The waitress was so nice and quick with everything. Took us less time to get our food than it did for us to get seated. We tipped her well and she was so happy because right before us, she waited on a table with 8 people that were there for hours and didn't leave a tip. I hate when good service isn't rewarded.
