There is a great view from this restaurant. The cool staff meets you at Far Hills Country Hotel all year round. Fast service is something that people note in their reviews. But visitors rate this place below average on Google.
My partner and I stayed at Far Hills Country Hotel . I just want to commend all the staff for excellent service, everyone went the extra mile and nothing was a problem. Everything is comfortable and clean and the views are exceptional. I cannot thank everyone enough for our wonderful time and experience. In the photo this is a big thank you to all of you and also a special mention to Sage you kept us so enterertained. Thanking all of you , Paul and Tracey.
PLEASE AVOID.|This hotel is a scam. Advertised as a 4 -star, but nothing more than a 1-star. Despite having a “NO PETS ALLOWED” policy, they have a live-in dog that barks during the night and from 6am in the morning. Bad breakfast, bad service, dirty.
WOW! We thought we knew the George and Wilderness area with its restaurants fairly well. But with Far Hills, we were in for a surprise. Right next to George, this is one of the most beautiful places where we have dined in the area. The views are amazing. The facilities are excellent. The food was delicious. The service was fantastic! We will surely be back, and we only wish that other people will also discover this exquisite hidden gem. It is most definitely worth a visit, and we will be back.
My wife and I decided that for our first post Covid trip we would revisit the Garden Route in Cape Province . Having been tipped off by friends that Far Hills Country Hotel at Wildernesse had recently been given a major refurbishment by its new owner , we booked for four nights . We were not disappointed . The view of the Outeniqua mountain range from our tastefully furnished room was as breathtaking as ever . The staff were unfailingly helpful and charming and the quality of the food and drinks in the attractive bar and restaurant was such that we dined in every evening . On our last day the hotel hosted a wedding party for 100 guests which prompted us to book the resort for our daughter’s nuptials next summer .
Very comfortable and clean rooms, hearty breakfast, excellent service from Lulu at reception and the breakfast staff were very friendly. All in all a very worthwhile visit and I can definitely recommend this hotel.
I have been travelling past this hotel for years but never thought of staying there. Circumstances caused me to stay there recently and wow, how I enjoyed it.||Rooms were large, comfortable and equipped with everything that I needed to enjoy my one night stay.||Because it was a bit out of George and we had had a long day we decided to eat in the restaurant. We were not expecting much, in fact only four people, including us, ate there, but again what a pleasant surprise. My meal was nicely cooked and vegetables were great. Our waitress was most pleasant and in fact we had a thoroughly enjoyable meal.||In the morning, we enjoyed an excellent meal and met Manager Wyndham, most congenial and he runs an excellent Hotel.||We will be back and if you want a great nights stay and quietness then Far Hills Country Hotel is for you. Check the view from my room with the photograph that accompanies my review.
Comfortable stay when traveling the Garden Route. The facilities of the hotel are great and the fixtures and fittings in the rooms are very good. Breakfast was an issue during our stay. Due to increased Covid restrictions, staff had to be reduced during this time and that was quite challenging especially as it was over December. Like everyone else, I enjoy value for money and this was the first time I chose not to have the complimentary breakfast that came with our booking on the last morning of a 3 night stay. I would like to return once Covid is over and hopefully, then things return to normal. A hard-working management team will be looking forward to business as usual, I am sure.
The hotel has been closed for about three months for renovations - I mean real renovations - not just a 'lick of paint'. We had been trying to get in during August and September but eventually were accepted for 4th October (2019) and we were the first guests after renovations (which are still progressing!). Our reception was outstanding - our room with its views was stunning. We made a few suggestions for improvement which we are sure will be implemented. The Hotel was still waiting for some 'fire-safe' certification for its kitchen, so we were offered a simplified menu cooked in a modest 'household' kitchen - the prawns were delicious and our breakfast very much up-to-standard. We will return!
Hotel has a country feel with upmarket and stylish twist. ||It offers peace and tranquility with a range of birds to hear right from your room. Perfect place to unwind and take a break from city life. If you feel more sociable it is still for you as it has a perfect bar area with deck overlooking the pool and Outeniqua mountain range.||||You can dine at night on the deck or inside with three course meal options. Food was beyond expectation and staff is warm and courteous. They tended to our every need.||We hope to be back very soon.
We've stayed at The Far Hills many times, over the years, and have always been delighted by the warm welcome and friendliness of the staff!||The view from the deck must be one of the most stunning views a hotel could have!||Great bar service and excellent food make for a very comfortable and pleasant experience. Lusanda is always a star, anticipating our every need, efficient and friendly, as well as professional. We missed Gift on our latest visit, sadly, but also an absolute star.||I'd love to give the Far Hills five stars, and the only reason I haven't is because, together with a rather 'tired' feel to the hotel overall (which is not a major problem for us, at all), it would be wonderful if the bedding situation could be improved! Mattress protectors, quality sheets, new pillows, just new, and better quality bed linen overall, would make all the difference to this beautiful place.||The rooms are a generous size, with balconies or private patios, and outdoor chairs to enjoy the stunning view, as well as in-room seating. Large bathrooms could also do with a revamp and it would be great if this is done eventually.||Of course, the fabulously cheap rates should, in our humble opinion, be higher, with these few improvements put into play!||As guest house owners ourselves, for the last five years, we understand the exorbitant costs involved in maintaining quality guest accommodation, but with a few improvements we believe the Far Hills would be one of, if not the, top hotel in the area! ||As an author, I love to observe and pay attention to detail, wherever I am, and maybe I'll pay homage to the Far Hills in one of my books! Watch this space!||Thanks for a wonderful stay Far Hills and wishing you success as you move forward!||Linzi Carlisle
