Love this place! Very authentic/exotic and peaceful atmosphere, the people are very kind, the food is amazing, the portions are great, and the lunch specials give you both variety and good portions for a great deal. We love this place. Food is great, decent size portions, fast service and servers friendly. Pleasant background music sets the mood. Good value. I did notice a bunch of negative reviews that seem to be from the prior establishment. Well worth your time and money. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Came here during the week for the lunch special. Samosa were good (2 pieces) and came with only the red sweet sauce. Lunch special came with dal, two curry's, rice and naan. Chicken Vindaloo was very tasty. The chicken chilly was only ok as the chicken was a little tough. The chicken Tikka masala was also very yummy. Amazing tasty food! Took over an older institution in Carlsbad Al's Diner, and all i can say is don't judge a book by its cover! You will enjoy the food here immensely, with such flavorful dishes. They have the best lunch special deal in all of San Diego at the most affordable price anywhere. I will be coming back here week after week as i work in the Carlsbad Village. Best Indian food in a 200 mile radius. Seems like all the bad reviews are for the old Al's Cafe and mention burgers or something. Google should purge out those reviews. This place deserves 6 out of 5 stars. I have an Italian Lebanese wife who knows how to cook and this is the best Indian we've ever had. Except for the mutton dish in Jaipur India back in 2012! Visited this little gem on a vacation recently. Walked by it a few times, then decided to order takeout for dinner. I can't say I have ever had a better chicken vindaloo anywhere else. I brought it back to the hotel to have dinner by the fireplace. So delicious I didn't have any leftovers. I can't wait to come back and try other dishes. Phenomenal!!
