Jāņoga is a real gem hidden in a residential house bit further in the center. Food is a star here with great flavors, always fresh and served generously in colorful manner. This time we went for lunch offer, which they have on weekdays 12.00-15.00 (regular menu not available at that time). Service was fast and friendly. The quality of the food would not be out of place in one of the top class eateries in London. Inventive, well-presented and tasty. Before the main course came we were given a small basket of bread - a crisp bread with truffle and seeded rye with dipping oil, both delicious (and complimentary). The mains were cooked to perfection with a good mix of vegetables to accompany the 2 dishes of trout fillet and chicken. We shared a layered dessert with biscuit crumbs, yoghurt mousse and passion fruit sorbet - digging down and eating a combo of the layers was sublime. You will get higher end restaurant service, great dishes with unexpected twist for a price of the local restaurant. Love this place. And do try their home made bread with seads, love. During the summer, their twist on cold soup was forth driving 70km for me 😊 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Wow. Looks can be deceiving. I would not have imagined the quality of the food or service from my first impressions. I had the duck and it was the best I have had in Latvia, better than restaurants in Riga where I paid double. A few more interesting vegetarian options would've been good as I am sure the chef is capable of producing some amazing things. The deserts were delicious. The gin and tonic was also perfect. Very tasty meals with beautifully prepared and presented food! Highly recommended for a bite to eat in Cesis! Menu changes though so make sure to check what's on offer before heading back hoping to have what you loved a year ago! Will certainly be back again in future ...
