Long drive from Texas, stopping in SLC. Food was on point for great quality Chinese dish staples. Have to make the main highlights of the visit was the service. Our server Daisy was super nice and bubbly to help our weary and hungry bodies. That smile and nice presence makes a big difference in your restaurant experience. Ordering was easy as well as recommendations and making sure we got what we needed for takeout leftovers. We stopped by the front desk to asked for plastic utensils and the Asian gentleman was awesome, too. Super nice with giving us items and also giving us the most helpful advice on driving on this heavy wintery weather we weren’t used to. So we left with happy bellies and happy minds, feeling better about driving to our final destination. Come here for the wonderful, top-notch service, and top it off with their delicious food! The food was excellent! I had the tangerine chicken with fried rice. The dinner came with soup, egg roll, and fried prawn. Best egg roll I've ever had. Outside was crispy and the filling was so good. The egg drop soup was delicious. My husband tried to beef and peppers. Very good too! So many good things to say about this place. We will be coming back to try more dishes! This is probably my favorite Chinese restaurant I've been to! The service has been amazing both times I've been here. The soup is delicious. I couldn't decide between egg drop and hot and sour soup, so my waiter recommended both mixed, which was delicious! I got the sizzling Mongolian platter. Also recommend. The only thing that wasn't super impressive was the egg roll, but everything else was great. Not sure quite why people have rated this restaurant so high. Our waiter (Daisy) was excellent and the service was fast, but the food was only ok. We had Lemon Chicken (dry and flavorless) and Mongolian Beef (tasty.) The Silver Wrapped Chicken was very good. I'd try other Chinese food places first. I neither felt Joy or Lucky eating here. First the place just was not very clean. We were there when it was slow early dinner acound 4:30 and they should have been plenty of clean but the dinning room floor was dirty. The bathrooms smelled like old wet rags. There was a small fountain not running that also looked dirty and unused for some time. The fish tenk was even dirty. Next the food was not great. It just didn't have much flovor. They had lots of things on the menue but nothing we ordered was good. There are things we would order at other places that have eaten. Next there was a gratuity fee on the bill though we were not made aware of it before we ate / ordered. It was 20% but when I initally asked the server didn't know. I looked at the menue and around the door and could find nothing, I feel like this is a sneaky way to get more money. Also based on the fact the server didn't even know how much the fee was, it probably isn't given to the server. The next day my stomach didn't feel great and I think it was food related and as I didn't eat anything between food from Joy Luck I stronly suspect that it was related to their food. We were a first-time group of 5 eating here. All of us loved our meals, and trust me....there was plenty to eat. The service was quick and efficient...I failed to ask for white rice instead of the brown rice with eggs and ham in it. They were very nice and accommodating. If you're looking for a good Chinese restaurant aroung Sandy, this is the place! The service was really awesome and the food is also worth the price, though it was very affordable too. Joy Luck Restaurant is one of our favorites. I personally go there because I can get quality gluten free food. The orange, pineapple, strawberry, and tangerine chicken are all amazing. I can’t have the egg role or prawn that come with the dinner platter but they are willing to substitute those for extra fried rice. It is a fun and private atmosphere in each booth.
