Husband and I finally returned to Booth Bay, Me after probably 5 years, I must say when you snooze, you loose! I love this area and it didn’t take long to realize it. Won’t happen again! I do remember eating at Karen’s Hideaway and upon arriving at our Campground, we made a bee line the next day for an early dinner. Karen and her husband are the most nicest and kind people!! Hub and I both got large Lobster Rolls, each one with 1/2 pound of meat nestled in a buttered, toasted hot dog bun. Hub had his with light mayo, I had mine naked with drawn butter. We both had her delicious potato salad made with bacon and cheese. Very good hot fries as well. That Lobster was so perfectly cooked and so tender. We both were in Hog Heaven!! We had very little conversation because are mouths were full of lobster goodness. It was fantastic! We got a tour of the live Lobster tanks, Karen’s husband Garry even posed with two lobsters for me, he has the great gift of gab, lucky me! Other than Lobster and Crab rolls, you can get Hamburgers and Hot dogs and dinners. A great road side place to eat, many picnic tables with umbrellas to eat your food. Save yourself the aggravation of going downtown trying to find a parking spot, just pull up and plenty of parking and enjoy the fresh air and a Delish, fresh Lobster or Crab roll. Must try Karen’s, Debbie and Bob, Mich 🦞🦀🌭🍔

I'm intrigued and rather shocked at the 4.6 rating. Usually, I'm very agreeable with my experiences and the ratings by the majority of fellow google raters. We walked up to the building confused on exactly where to go. A lack of employees in either building added to my initial confusion. We stopped specifically for an authentic Maine lobster roll. After seeing lobsters in an aquarium in a run down garage building, I should've maybe tried a different place. The lobster tank inside was not clean and mold was in the top of the tank. Another reason I should've ran. I had no idea the price of the lobster roll and ordered based on what I expected the price to be for an out in the middle of nowhere place. No prices were listed. After I ordered it, I was told $30. I should've ran. Fast. And far. The lobster roll was served on an amazingly buttery flavored but incredibly small undersized hot dog roll. Very mediocre and very lightly seasoned/sauced lobster chunks were stacked on the bun. It was soooooo CHEWY and it took forever to swallow. It was served with chips and the smallest container or coleslaw in the history of any of the New England states. Don't spit on my face and tell me it's just raining outside. This place is STEEPLY overpriced for what you get. Lastly, marijuana smoke smells disgusting and I don't want my clothes saturated with that thick fungus'y smell of rank stank weed. That's all I smelled while waiting a while for the aforementioned $30 lobster mini roll. Ps....I choked some pepto afterwards...... just in case. Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 1

Friendly little lobster shack on the side of the road that offers non-seafood options for those in the group that aren't interested in lobster, scallops, clams, fish and other tasty goodies. We got the fried seafood combo, and it was huge!!! We left way too full, but also very happy. Highly recommended!

Close to garden, suggested by staff member, no line. Didn't have time for the line @ Reds! Next time. Your looking at a $30. Lobster Roll 🦞 That's a nonresident price 😳 once is a enough. The best cheeseburger in Maine! The lobster roll was great with a side of potato salad… and those fries! We showed up 10 minutes before closing (we didn’t notice) and they were still so nice! Delicious freshest crab, fine hot dog. Nicely grilled buttered buns. Interesting tasty cole slaw (pineapple?). Lower rating because the accompanying condiment packets were all spoiled/separated, as if they’d been stored somewhere warm. Will come again for the crab.

This is the place to scratch your lobster itch. True, you can't drive through Midcoast Maine without tripping over dozens of these shacks, but if you find yourself on Rt 27 near Boothbay Harbor, skip everyone else and come here. A quick 10 minute drive from more popular spots in town, you'll avoid the long lines at other places and get (in my opinion) a superior lobster roll. Friendly folks, and it feels like you're just hanging out in Karen's back yard. Get a live lobster packed to go next door. 100% Maine.

The fish is fresh and tasty. Yes this is not your sanitized chain, rather a quaint roadside establishment. I suspect most will pass this place and miss something probably more authentic to mid-coast Maine. Yes, I am not a fan of the cars flying by, the food makes up for it. Our first lobster rolls in Maine and we were not disappointed. Lots of meat, great toasted bun and served with a pineapple coleslaw that was great. Also got the French fries which were nice And hot. Great overall experience.
