In this address there are two museums: art museum and history museum. While the history museum seems to be designed more for children, adults can enjoy it as well. Most of information has been translated to English except some in digital screens. The art museum is well curated. Both museums has free entrance. As it is located very close to the central station, it is worth a visit.

When in Västerås, the place is worth a visit. There is no ticket fee (at least when I was there). There are two parts: 1) an art gallery 2) A history museum. There was a lot to learn and I certainly enjoyed my time there. In addition, they have lots of activities for kids which makes the place more engaging and kid friendly.
This museum has free entry to visitors. It has Swedish history of country side lifestyle from stone age. Other side of the museum is an Art section. Good to visit on weekdays.

Beautiful little museum in the heart of Västerås. You can clearly see that the museum was created with children in mind, with lots of interactive learning areas and activities, but there are plenty of interesting things for adults as well. As someone who likes museums I ended up spending half a day in both the museum and gallery as there was so much to read and explore in such a small place but it can easily be done in half the time if you’re pressed for free time in the day. Learning of the history of not only the area but of Sweden as a whole was very cool. Learned a few things even my Swedish partner didn’t know! All for the great price of free! The only 2 things I would say needed a bit of attention was 1. the smell in the museum, seemed a bit musty or dusty. I sneezed a few times and given the current health crisis that probably wasn’t a great visual for others (luckily it was empty). 2. would be great to have some directions showing what the ideal progression through the museum is, it made sense in terms of the time periods but it also was tough as there was little anterooms with other items that were either a special display or part of the era but not clearly part of the flow.

Good and interesting, very child adapted with interactive learning but also very interesting for adults. Learning from the stone age to today, Pieces from one of Scandinavias biggest gold treasure from the 3rd century, and viking swords and other cool stuff on display. Free of charge
Great place with free entry. The lunch at the cafe there ist pretty good and both museums, the historical and the art museum, are a visit worth.
Two very different (changing) exhibitions, nice café & excellent location.

It is modern and fresh place, kids-friendly. As I can see, there are kids-art clubs to gather with our parents on weekends. Place feels new and quite big, but not used fully from my point of view. There is a pricey caffe with fika possibility. Museum is engaged with social life, has hand-made fairs. But most of social events are during working hours what makes it completely impossible to visit! Maybe being unemployed is a requirement.

Very interactive exhibition with loads of things to do for everyone of any age. I really enjoyed I could touch objects, smell spices used by our ancestors and try on costumes from different eras. Highly recommend to visit!
This is a good history museum including both Sweden's and world's.. and it may be a fun for your kids if you go together..
