True to its name, L'etage Café is located on the second floor of the building at 9A Hang Khay. The entrance is a bit narrow, but there are signs outside to guide you. Once inside and up the stairs, you'll find the cafe. The space isn't overly large, with additional seating in a small loft area. The real highlight is the balcony seating offering a direct view of Hoan Kiem Lake. The panoramic and airy view, paired with a cup of coffee, makes it a solid 10. Best coconut coffee I’ve had! The interior is very cozy, the coffee tastes amazing, and the owners are very kind. The owner’s cute cat makes this place even more memorable. The prices are very affordable and similar to other cafes in Hanoi. I definitely recommend you get an egg or coconut coffee here! Nice cosy cafe, hidden down a side alleyway. No obvious entry point but the wall hanging sign that could be easily missed. It has only a few tables inside and a small balcony area looking over to the lake. The cat makes the difference in our opinion! He is happy for attention and climbed onto our lap it was a shame to leave. Coffee was nice. Service Dine in Meal type Other Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

A classic spot, easily the best Egg coffee ive had here in Hanoi. Extremely passionate and friendly staff were more than happy to give me travelling advice and had some great tips for local food. Accessed through an alley off Hang Khay street, this well loved spot resides upstairs and offers lakeside views and an intimate, relaxed atmosphere. Service Dine in Meal type Other

May 2022. Decided to visit according to the positive reviews. However seems like not a popular place nowadays. It was totally empty, and the person was chilling on a sofa when we arrived. Drinks were okay, nothing exceptional, price was similar to other cafes. We sat outside in the balcony, and the view was nice, however there were many mosquitos, and it was super hot. Waiter turned on a fan to help which was nice of him. You can give it a try if you around the lake but I wouldn't probably go back.

We ordered a black coffee, a hot chocolate, and a cappuccino but all three of our drinks were horrendous. The balcony is a great place to view all the action happening around the lake, but unfortunately doesn't make up for the awful drinks and slow service. Very nice place, quiet, this coffee is inside a century building in front the lake. Peach tea was tasty and the people are very friendly.

Just look for the sign on the outside, then Go into the ally and follow the stairs upstairs. Menu might be hard to understand as it's mostly written in Vietnamese, with shady English translations. Had a black coffee and it was strong. Service took a while. Nice views over the lake.

A wonderful place with a speakeasy vibe because of the rather creepy passageway you have to walk through before climbing the stairs to your right. The cafe is extremely clean (with loads of power outlets around). The coffee and tea here is absolutely excellent. There is also a great view of the lake. The prices are reasonable and the menu is extensive.
