La Fonda On Main is an incredible restaurant in San Antonio. With its historic charm, beautiful courtyard and balcony, it's easy to see why it's a popular spot on the weekends. The food is amazing, with favorites like the spinach enchiladas topped with creamy poblano sauce, shrimp, rice with nopales, fresh salsa, queso, guacamole, and delicious desserts. The bar staff and drinks are also top-notch, with the Mezcalero being a fan favorite. The service is excellent, and the staff are very accommodating and welcoming. The patio is huge and beautiful, making it a great spot for outdoor dining. They also offer a brunch menu with amazing dishes like the mole xiqueno and barbacoa fideo seco. Vegans will be pleased to know that they have plenty of options, including spinach enchiladas with a ranchero sauce and vegetable fajitas. This is a must-try restaurant if you're visiting San Antonio - you won't regret it!

Nestled on Main ave, not far from the scenic Pearl and River Walk, this vibrant restaurant boasts an exceptional atmosphere. Even during off-peak times, it's bustling, so reservations are recommended—though our brief 10-minute wait was hardly a bother thanks to the well-appointed waiting area. Complete with a bar and ample seating, it's a feature in its own right. The menu, while concise, presents a delightful fusion of Mexican flavors with a Texan twist, ensuring each dish is decent in taste. Flavor however has room for improvement. If I have to say three best things about this restaurant, food won’t be one. The bar doesn't disappoint either, offering an extensive selection of mixed drinks, beers, and wines, with the Mezcal Old Fashion standing out as a must-try among a diverse range of margaritas. Be mindful, the quality comes at a premium, with a meal for two, including a couple of drinks, averaging around $90 plus tip. The outdoor seating area adds to the allure, offering a fantastic vibe for alfresco dining. With ample parking and top-notch service to round off the experience, it's a place that's worth every penny. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $50–100 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
There are plenty of wonderful options to choose from for even picky eaters. Vegans and others will both find delectable items on the menu. Portions are generous, and be sure to ask about seasonal items available, and you won't be disappointed 😉 lovely non-alcoholic options are available and gorgeously crafted alongside a wide variety of cocktails and wine. I particularly enjoyed the sweet potato enchiladas. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

La Fonda is a San Antonio staple and rightfully so. Their food and margaritas are excellent and so is their friendly service. The food we had was delicious. I had the La Fonda plate with enchiladas, a taco and a tamale and I couldn’t even finish it, which has never happened to me. So much food and it’s all excellent! We had to ask to recook our child’s food but that wasn’t a problem and they were very nice about it. Overall we were very satisfied with our meal and would definitely recommend this place to family or friends. La Fonda on Main is a classic, must-visit restaurant located in the beautiful Monte Vista neighborhood. Indoor seating is nice, but where they really shine is their gorgeous outdoor patio! It's nestled within the walls of the restaurant and surrounded by trees, so you get all the good feels of being on a patio while also feeling secluded. We went during happy hour (which is Monday-Thursday 3pm-6pm) and ordered their Prickly Pear Margaritas - soo good! We also started with their Salsas de la Casa which is chips and 3 of their house made salsas. Highly recommend ordering this if you like chips and salsa in general because they are all uniquely tasty and different! We also shared an order of mixed fajita nachos that were stacked - the best kind of nacho in my opinion! My husband ordered the Camote Enchiladas, which were super yummy and looked more like flautas than enchiladas. I ordered a cup of the Chef's soup of the day which was a brisket & veggie guajillo soup that was SO DIVINE I could not get over how flavorful it was! Our waiter was Mitch, who provided excellent service. offered great recommendations and was very attentive to our table. Definitely will be back! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

This is a real gem! Wow, was the food good! I had beef tacos and a wonderful spinach salad. The dressing and the mangos added a lovely sweetness that was just delicious. The handmade corn tortillas were so much better than I've had anywhere else. The tacos had so much flavor. Dessert was the added bonus, delectable chocolate roll, raspberry sauce, pistachios..OH MY!
