Last week, I celebrated a birthday with a group of friends at Courage, a charming restaurant in Aveiro, and it couldn't have been a more enjoyable experience. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted by the warm and inviting atmosphere. The beautifully decorated space creates a cosy and intimate setting perfect for a special occasion.
The service was top-notch. Our waiter was attentive and friendly, ensuring all our needs were met promptly and with a smile.
Now, onto the food! The star of the show was undoubtedly the delicious cuisine. We started with a selection of shared plates, including alheira croquettes and huevos rotos. The croquettes were crispy and flavorful, while the huevos rotos were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Each bite was a treat, and they set the bar high for the main courses.
For our main dishes, we opted for a variety of options, each showcasing the culinary skills of the kitchen. The mushroom risotto with beef was rich and satisfying, the salmon risotto was light and flavorful, and the pork lizards with salad were perfectly grilled and tender. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with fresh, high-quality ingredients.
Overall, our experience at Courage was truly delightful. The cosy atmosphere, friendly service, and exceptional food made it the perfect setting for a birthday celebration. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in Aveiro.

Amazing and tasty food since the starters, so many interesting options of dishes. The price is also very good, they have a nice ambient and service.

Location is very nice and almost luxurious but the plate I ordered didn’t meet the place’s mood and expectations.
The fish wasn’t the main character, as the reheated sticky rice and mayo covered an excellent piece of bacalau.
Waiter was very kind but didn’t speak English.
I would’ve given 3 stars if the plate I ordered wasn’t suggested by the chef as their “best option”

Its a new restaurant with a space refreshed from the previous one. I'm not sure I will repeat a visit. The food was super salty (I took octopus with rice...) but the person with me took another dish with the same problem. The presentation and refinement is poor.
The desert list is very limited (4 choices) but was not too bad!... The wine list is also very limited. There are much better choices in Aveiro for the same price.
Unfriendly staff and expensive, very average food. Small amount of protein for the price. Lack of communication between client and staff member who booked our big group in. No food or drinks menu provided, only menu provided was for alcoholic drinks. Dessert menu also not provided, all said to us by mouth. Ordered in advance however food took a fair amount of time to be served. Better, cheaper food in better quantities can be found in other restaurants of the same “calibre” so would not recommend.

Food was below average and not restaurant quality. The Ovos Rotos were particularly poor, fries were barely warm, not crispy, no salt, not enough ham. Fried Choco was superb. Both risottos were over cooked, lacked finesse in the seasoning. The Alheira one was very rich, has an overpowering blue cheese taste and lacked any actual other pieces of Alheira to add texture, no acidity. The bacalhau risotto, also had no bacalhau in the risotto, just on top and the risotto lacked flavour.
The decor of the restaurant is beautiful and the staff polite and very professional. I would take serious consideration in changing or retraining the chefs to better execute what is a very interesting and modern menu. Everything looks really beautiful but when tasting it you leave a little unsatisfied as other restaurants in the area serve seafood risottos that are a world apart.
