Just give them the Michelin star already. Why the hold up? They definitely deserve it by all their hardwork and passion for their craft which transcend through everything they served us as customers. Hats off to them for tirelessly catering and acknowledging all their customers needs. No need for me to elaborate more on the food tasted - just give them the Michelin star triumph already. We tried their signature fried rice with pansuh chicken, sambal terung asam salai, kayan mixed vegetables, and prawn tempoyak. The tempoyak stole the show! The other dishes were alright, nothing too special though. But hey, their pandan lemongrass drink was really good! Plus, the staff were friendly. Oh, and heads up, this place gets pretty busy, so it's a good idea to make a reservation if you're planning to dine in. Overall, it's worth checking out if you're looking to try our local cuisine! Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person RM 20–40 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
Pretty atmosphere, surrounded by plants and flowers, this restaurant is located few hundred meters away from the main restaurant road. The portions are generous and even if you order the small size, you can really share it with 3 people. We got two mains, a veggie plate, a rice side. Very friendly staff. As food lovers, we have to say this restaurant’s has fully mastered the cooking skills and catches our tastebuds! It is our first time in Sarawak and our main purpose is to taste the local and tribe food! Lepau shows us the tribe food culture and also let us understand there has good food and restaurant which represent them in Kuching ! Midin with belacan was nicely cooked and have WOK HEI ! The Midin is crunchy and juicy and not too soft! The sambal beef is not too spicy. The terung asam pedas prawn has been stirred fry a bit before cooking with the soup based. The meat is soft and tender and not over cooked ! Petai vegetable is really good too! We make the reservation at the last minutes and they confirmed our reservation instantly! The staff are really friendly! Once more, we give two thumbs up 👍 for the female chefs and thanks for the team to give us such an amazing experience in Kuching Sarawak ! Highly recommended! Came here to try the local delicacies (fermented durian etc). Highly recommend for GOOD QUALITY food in Kuching!! It’s full immediately when it opens at 6, there’s a walk-in queue already. Get the midin w garlic to try the original taste. delicious~ Tempoyak also should order if u like durian. Special mention to the ice cream dessert with tuak + rice. Must try!!😍 Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person RM 100–120 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes Chicken Pansuh
Came on a Saturday evening, 730pm. We were fortunate to be 2nd on the queue. The waitress was very helpful to advise us on the food. The fiona with fried cream fish is probably our favorite. Delicious and the sweet sour taste is just well balanced. The other 3 dishes, bamboo chicken and cangkuk mains are ok. A little bland for me but is ok. Overall great ambience and welcoming staff makes the experience delightful. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

A very kind local who we met at the Borneo Cultures Museum recommended LePau to us, stressing that they really do represent traditional Sarawak cuisine. So we felt fortunate to have an excellent last meal in Kuching there (*Note: we didn’t make a reservation but highly recommend that you do so. We went right at 6:00 pm and jumped on their waiting list. We only had a 40 minute wait, but when we came out there were dozens of people waiting to get in). We had read about the size of the dishes so we were cautious not to order too much (at least that’s what we thought 😂). We ordered Sambal Beef, Orange Ulu Red Chili Fish, Daun Ubi Goreng (pounded Tapioca Leaves with Tepus) and Purple Bario Rice. We had two delicious drinks to accompany our meal: Jungle Treebark & Pandan Lemongrass. Both the beef and fish dishes were delightful, with lots of layered, rich flavours. We’d not had Tapioca Leaves before so we wanted to try something new. They were tasty, and the tepus (a locally sourced ginger-like plant) added a nice flavour. Be aware; this is a huge order, more suitable for three or four people than for two. The only disappointment of the night was the Purple Bario Rice. It was room temperature, quite dry and pretty bland. We would have been better off just ordering white rice. Of special note: both the drinks were fabulous, bringing really unique flavours to the meal and complementing the food perfectly. Service was friendly, but brisk (there were lots and lots of tables so the servers had to move fast to keep up). The meal was very reasonably priced: RM 74 (CDN $22.50). We can definitely recommend Lepau if you ever find yourself in Kuching.

We went before 6 knowing that there will be a queue after they open at 6 pm. When we reach there we were told that it was almost fully booked. People call in a day before to make reservations. But luckily enough we were the first that reach the shop and there’s space for 10 of us. We ordered some local food, don’t remember the name but if u show them the picture they might tell you what it is. It’s as the best meal I had in Kuching, most of the dishes have a kick of spicy in it. For drinks I would suggest just order a kettle we thought a jug will be enough but end up ordering 4 jugs. Each jug can fill 5 cups if I am not mistaken. Food and environment over there is the best I got in my Kuching trip. Just do call in for reservation before you head there or you can just do what I did go there earlier and wait for the opening . Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Heard of this place for a few years and finally have the opportunity to try them out to celebrate my birthday. We ordered what we think may represent the best traditional dishes. We ordered the tempoyak, midin, bunga kantan, pansuh chicken, not in pictures were the fish umai (like ceviche), asam fish, bario rice, and the lemon grass pandan tea. We loved the tempoyak and midin. Most of the other dishes were neither great nor bad. It's just very bland. The asam has no sour flavor that asam dish should have. The tea just tasted like water. The fish umai was not fresh. The service was ok but hard to get the attention of any staff. The ambiance was good. Will come for one-time experience but not as a restaurant to frequent.
