After enjoying Mission San Rafael Arcangel, go to this restaurant which is not far away. Indian and Vegetarian food is worth a try here. Nicely cooked paneer, naan and saag paneer may be what you need. Many visitors say that waiters serve tasty pudding, ice cream and gulab jamun here. Among the drinks, there is delicious beer. It is good to enjoy great mango lassi, masala chai or coffee. The success of Lotus Cuisine of India would be impossible without the energetic staff. Good service is something that guests highlight in their comments. A number of reviewers have noticed that prices are democratic for what you get. At this place, people can enjoy the charming atmosphere and terrific decor. 4.4 is what this spot got from the Google rating system.

The best buffet I have ever been to for Indian favorites. Excellent butter chicken, saag paneer with corn, tender tandoori chicken, moist lamb, eggplant pakora, vegetable navarin. Great food. Located right in the heart of downtown San Rafael, Lotus can be quite an experience for people who are fairly new to Indian cuisine. Went in for lunch buffet on Friday. They have varieties of options- both veg and non-veg. Can’t complain about their food. Definitely one of the best Indian places around Bay Area. The only issue was one of the servers trying to rush us.We were there around 1:20 and he basically told us to grab as much food as we wanted since they were closing soon which is at 2 pm. That didn’t make any sense as people were still coming in for buffet until 1:45. We just felt we were treated differently.
Hands down one of the best high quality Indian lunch buffet I have had lately. We were travelling back from point Reyes in the last weekend of April and stumbled upon this place via Google search on the way back to south bay. So glad we stopped here for lunch! First of all, kudos to the interiors and the decor of this restaurant. It's such a nice vibe to dine in here. Also, the waiters were very courteous. Coming to the buffet, they had limited varieties but every single thing tasted so good. I don't remember the last time someone kept unlimited paapad in the buffet, that made me so happy. The veg fried rice was tooo good, it was just like how my family makes back in India without any soy sauce & such. I was very skeptical about the kale pakora, but I couldn't stop having it once I tasted it. And another highlight was the aloo baingan - Felt so homely. These were my most fav dishes from the buffet. The other items like chicken tandoor, naan, gravies & desserts were also good. I would love to stop by this place again when I pass by this area. This is the most spotlessly clean, beautiful restaurant I have ever been in (and my family owned a restaurant). Food, service everything top notch. Great for a date or a celebration event. Many different rooms and options for large parties. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

First of all the ambience of this place is really nice and it has plenty of seating area. Coming to the food, we started with Chai : Pretty average tasting, comes with a biscuit which I liked Mix pakora: very home like made so they were good. Although I felt that the quantity was less Margarita: Pretty average too. For main course Daal Makhani: This was really good, would recommend. Salt was less in it. Saag paneer: This was outstanding. Would highly recommend. Again salt was less Garlic naan: Pretty average Gobi parantha: pretty average again. Did not have salt at all. The presentation of all the dishes was great and service was good too. If they could add apt salt and increase the portion sizes that would be a great plus. For dessert we ordered gulab jamun with rabri: The gulab jamun was good in taste but rabri could have been thick and a bit more cold. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50

I drove 60 miles from San Jose to try this restaurant since I had wanted to try it for a long time and finally got a chance. Most of the staff seemed nice and friendly. However, our server didn't smile at all and was so cold in general while taking our order. This was the biggest disappointment in this place. Second, the chicken bhiriyani had broccoli in it. As an Indian, I can say that this is the biggest fau pax in the culinary world. I know this restaurant is catered towards the white community, but there was really no need to put broccoli in the chicken biriyani when there are a host of other vegetables already in there. The goat curry which is supposedly the restaurants most specialized item had hard and tough pieces. Goat curry is difficult to cook and needs to melt in your mouth when you eat it. This restaurant doesn't know how to do it. I had to leave some pieces because they were too tough to chew. Also, this is the most expensive item on the menu. So, I was literally throwing my money away. Lastly, I was assured by our waiter that we could place our dessert order later even though we were almost past the 1:30pm cutoff time. However, after finishing our main course, when we asked for dessert, another server said we couldn't order dessert any longer. Shame on the restaurant for making a commitment and then going back on it. I only commend the restaurant for trying to use good ingredients, but I question how they differentiate between organic and non organic. If two orders are placed at a table and one order is for non organic chicken and the other is for organic, how does the kitchen and wait staff differentiate? They have no markings on the serving bowls to differentiate. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $30–50 Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 5
This Indian place has been my favorite since it opened years ago. My favorite dish with dairy is their chicken tiki masala. I’ve gone nondairy for health reasons and now my favorite dish is there spicy potatoes and spinach. Their food is amazing. You have to try it. Their building is beautiful too. Nice atmosphere fancy without feeling stuffy. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Chicken Curry Surender
Spacious and tasty Indian restaurant connected to a comprehensive Indian food market. We had the buffet, which had the typical assortment, very tastily prepared. The issue was the cost, which seemed extremely expensive 🫰 to us - $100 for three people for buffet and tea. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $30–50 Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes Lamb Saag

Had an exceptional meal here! Was passing through town visiting an old friend and we walked through town and thought the patio looked cute. They let us have our dog on the patio. The service was friendly and quick, the food was absolutely delicious, and it was a lovely setting on the Main Street of town. They suggested we try an Indian beer with our meal and we loved it. If only every meal out could be an experience like this! Will absolutely return if I’m ever in San Rafael again.

Perfect dining experience. We were a group of five. Wait staff were welcoming and attentive. They were careful to confirm heat level for entrees. The food was all jot and delicious, in perfect portions for easy sharing. All the breads were done to perfection and the meats were ideal. I had lamb pakora, onion naan, lamb tikka masala, and a couple sweet lassis. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
