I’m cheating on you, La Mentita. Maria California is one of the best breakfast spots in La Paz. I’ve wanted to dine at the funky place for a few years. Finally took friends who were visiting. The fluffy pancakes are huge. I had an egg white omelette that was delicious. Very good fresh juice drinks. The best part is the lady singing from her makeshift mini stage in the first dining room. My only complaint is that they serve syrup in Heinz plastic packages. I wish they had a better product in a more environmentally conscious package.

Surprisingly good coffee. Salsas tasted quite fresh. Very nice options on the menu, and it all tasted really good. Service was relaxed in terms of speed but fairly attentive, though at one time I was asked if I wanted a refill on my coffee but it never came. Food prep took a bit longer than expected, but it tasted like everything was fresh and cooked as ordered, so it's worth the wait. We'll definitely be going back before we leave La Paz. It was amazing breakfast! Portions are way American size, you not went out hungry! And it’s delicious! Very recommend hotcakes, juices, chilaquiles! Very high level of service, all staff is friendly & professional. They invite welcome drink-americano while you are waiting in line for breakfast. You feel like they are waited you as a friend in this place. The terrace is very green and atmosphere is very relax. Best place for breakfast in La Paz! For sure we are coming back. Can't go wrong. Atmosphere was great, beautiful and homey. Very nice. The food were great we all finished and didn't left anything for the ants. Service was great and the prices were reasonable. This place never disappoints me. Always provides high quality with great ambiance. Their juices are amazing and their food is fabulous. I have been here over and over and tried so many of their dishes and they are all good. It’s hard to choose. Don’t forget to try their fresh biscuits, their chilaquiles is one of the best. ————- Few years later: We are trying to come here for at least one breakfast/brunch, anytime we are in La Paz, and they never fail us. Always a consistent delicious dish, no matter what you order. It always puts a smile on your face when you have the first bite of food. Staff are friendly and welcoming; the place has an authentic ambience. Service could be a bit faster, but I’ll still take it. Well done! Keep up the good work. Maria Mariaaaa!!! Lol sorry I had make that reference. Maria California is a great breakfast spot in a neighborhood right off the malecon in the commercial zone. It sets right on the corner making outdoor seating a great option. The staff is very friendly. The food was being excellent. Any place that allowed you to have chilaquiles as a side dish is great in my book!
