Right after visiting Rod Library, come for a meal. All the clients love wonderful Indian and Pakistani cuisines at this restaurant. The chef at Masala Grill cooks tasty butter chicken, cheese naans and garlic naans. Nothing can be better than ordering nicely cooked yogurt. Great tea or good mango lassi are the most popular drinks of this place. Visitors don't like marsala at this spot. This restaurant with takeaway dishes is suitable for those guests who like to have supper on the go. The accommodating staff works hard, stays positive and makes this place great. The cool service shows a high level of quality at Masala Grill. Here you will pay reasonable prices. At this place, people can enjoy the homey atmosphere and fancy decor. But this spot has been rated below average by Google.

My partner and I came in on a hot Sunday afternoon for a delicious late lunch, and Mirch Masala Grill blew us away with their authentic dishes. While we were the only customers for a bit, the staff was attentive and very polite. We ordered the Butter Chicken and Pepper Chicken with some cheese naan on the side, and got the dishes rather quickly! They smelled heavenly and tasted even better. While they don't appear to have cups (we got bottled water), it wasn't inconvenient as there were a lot of to-go orders coming in. Restaurant was on the smaller side, but not cramped. Just cozy and well-kept. The food is fantastic! Deliciousness galore! We have missed some of the food from other ethnicities, and this restaurant brings in some great flavors! Not a lot of employees, and the restaurant is quite small, but they did a fair job keeping up with us while trying to serve all the takeout at the same time. My boyfriend and I came here and weren’t really sure what to expect. I really wanted to try Indian food, and was very impressed. The restaurant is small, but don’t let that fool you. The food was great, only 2 people working but they were both super friendly. Place is clean, was relatively empty for dine in but they constantly had people coming in to pick up to go orders. The butter chicken, mutton korma, and garlic naan are all delicious, good things to order if it’s your first time trying it! Portions are huge and you will probably need a to go box when finished eating. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL FOOD!!!! Our server was kind enough to describe the dishes and recommended great choices.Every bite of the dishes was perfect. The only thing I was sad to not get the chance to try was a dessert........because I was SUPER full. Very satisfied. PLEASE PLEASE TRY!!!! I will post a picture of each dish in order! The appetizers we tried were Vegetable Pakora (Yellow dish) & Samosa Chaat. Then we had the Mutton Korma, and the Lamb Shorba. We had 3 styles of fresh clay oven bread. Cheese Naan, Garlic Naan, and Tandoori Roti. Last is me enjoying an amazing drink perfect for Mango enthusiasts, the Mango Lassi. FOR INDIAN FOOD....THIS IS THE PLACE. First of all, the food doesn’t taste anything like Indian food. I’m a huge lover of Indian food and after moving here for college, I was excited to have an Indian restaurant within walking distance to campus only to find out that the food tastes so bad(nothing like Indian food). For background, I’ve tried multiple Indian restaurants across Illinois, California, New York and Iowa, and yet to find an Indian restaurant as bad as this one. I mean come on!! Second, be sure to watch out for the charges you are “supposed” to pay for because they will overcharge you. They have menu items listed as such and such but charge something else completely different. For example, I ordered something that was $11.99 and even with tax(Iowa tax of 6% - 8%) and everything it shouldn’t be over $13 but instead I was charged $15.48 for it. And the owner is so daring to tell me that absurd price while looking me straight in the eyes and asks for tip on top of that. They acted like they didn’t notice the price, until I told them that the price is too high even after tax and that’s when they corrected it to the right price. Even when you order online on their official website for takeout, it’s the same thing when you come in store to pay(that’s the only payment option). They will still try to charge you $2+ extra and act like you are stupid. Will never order from them again. I would advise anyone who do order from them whether online or in person, to look at your quoted bill, do a rough math in your head(common sense) or use a calculator etc, before paying unless you’re rich and that $2+ won’t affect you. God forbid you order food from this place anymore. DO NOT ORDER FOOD FROM GRUBHUB, THEY DO NOT LOOK AT THE WEBSITE AND WILL NOT PULL IT UP WHEN YOU COME TO GET YOUR ORDER. The staff keeps changing, this place used to be great 5-8 years ago. I recently placed an order over the phone for a basic entree and naan. When I arrived I walked up to the cash register and was greeted very patronizingly by some short guy. I said “I called and ordered the Pepper Chicken.” He wrang me up and STARED me down as I was faced with the tipping screen in which I felt obligated to leave a tip, even though this was a pickup /carryout situation and no service was provided. I thought the total was a little high for what I ordered, so I made sure to get a receipt, which I noticed they didn’t ring me up for the bread that I asked for during my phone call. And also the prices were higher compared to the website menu. When I confronted the short man about the naan, he said “well you said you had an order for Pepper Chicken?” Okayyy??? I was just referencing my order quick, like you don’t write these orders down on paper and have some sort of organization? Luckily he didn’t charge me extra for the naan because I would have stated that he could use the tip as the payment. I ended up waiting an extra 20 minutes on top of the 20 minutes in between my phone call and arrival to the restaurant. 40 mins total, and not busy whatsoever. After paying for the order the man very aggressively told me to sit down and wait for the food with no reference to time and treated me like a complete inconvience for even coming into the restaurant. I ordered chicken biryani, which turned out to be the worst biryani I've ever eaten. This is not even a biryani, just plain rice mixed with some pieces of chicken. Neither it was cooked properly, nor did chicken pieces be good. Not recommended.
