A very fun experience! Unlike most high quality Japanese food, which really highlights the fish, this place is more about the sauces and fun combinations. If you know that going in, I think this place is worthy of trying for sure. Without even dipping my rolls in soy sauce, they were already dripping it. While more soy was used than id prefer, the tuna tostada was still my favorite dish of the night. Meal type Dinner Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

Three of us at dinner there a couple of times. Our waiter Manuel spoke excellent English and provided superb service. We enjoyed the food so much that we brought a couple of Yellowfin Tuna and Bonito that we had caught earlier the next day for them to prepare for us. They surprised us with some amazing concoctions. We were so stuffed. Best part is the total bill was very reasonable. Will be back whenever we’re in town fishing.

Best dinner I had while in town. The fish was prepared well with some great Mexican fusion! I've never had sashimi that spicy! The host and wait staff all spoke English which is great because I know about 3 words of Spanish. Service was a bit slow (spent quite a bit of time looking around for my server). Hotel quality sushi basically. Nicksan prides itself at being a high quality Asian food restaurant but since years ago that I went and now. Nothing has changed for the better. The food is bland, boring and very salty. The service is non existent with a lot of waiters all chit chatting and looking somewhere else. The restaurant is falling every time I visit there is water dripping from the ceiling. The chairs are nasty and napkins are old. Try something else. Family and I were lured in by the interesting structures outside the restaurant and its close proximity to our vacation spot. Food: Read a review that suggested sticking to rolls based on (1) the chance to try MX+sushi crossover and (2) quality of the fish — I followed the suggestion since I’m normally being a sashimi/nigiri person and am admittedly a little picky re: point 2. Serranito and Maguro rolls had great flavors but were pretty sauce heavy — above average sauciness. Tekka roll was cut very thick and made even thicker by a high rice to fish ratio. Vegetable fried rice was taken home to tired brother who wasn’t up for fish — the salt bomb was quickly discarded. Service: Staff appeared to be very preoccupied with fulfilling takeout orders and were rushing around the kitchen despite the restaurant not being close to full inside or outside — hoping this explains why one hostess told us that we would need to be out in less than 45 minutes. Waiter was friendly and kind when he had the chance to stop at the table. Atmosphere: Outside is far more impressive than the inside. Too bad we were inside. When they have tuna nigiri, it is like heaven to me. I get thick cut, and am served an enormous block of fresh tuna over cucumber "noodles." When this happens, I could eat there every night. The service is great because they don't have a "schtick," they are simply generous and genuine. No putting on a show, and very real in wanting you to have a nice, relaxing time. Our friends who dined with us had tempura, and a fried rice dish as well as a selection of miso soups, salads and steak dish. We all enjoyed the food immensely and will definitely be back. Outstanding! One of the best sushi experiences I’ve had & I’m no stranger to sushi. Had the sashimi salad, sashimi cilantro & the tuna & truffle sashimi. Not an ounce of soy sauce was even considered. The flavor of each of these dishes were amazing & unique. Who knew sushi this good existed in Nuevo?The service was on par with the food. We will be back!
