We've been visiting the Outermost Inn for many years, and it is our favorite restaurant and location to eat on the island. It's a scenic drive up island and the sunsets are always amazing. Typically the high cost of the dinner is justified by the high quality food and service, but there was a noticeable drop in both this year. Our server, was adequate, but he seemed like he only had the energy to do the bare minimum. The food, while good, was not up to the typical high standards that you'd expect from the Outermost. At this price, the meal should be memorable, not just something you could get at other restaurants in Edgartown. This location is special and the experience should be too. Maybe the change in chef or adding a few more tables has had a slight impact on quality? We'll be back next year for another try :-)

My family and I had dinner here on Saturday, September 30th. Although the atmosphere and wait staff was very nice, I got food poisoning from this restaurant. I had ordered the steak and it came out undercooked. I took a few bites and then had the staff put it back on the burner. That was enough to result in awful food poisoning. I called the restaurant the next day to let them know with the intent of preventing this from happening to others. Their response on the phone was that “the source of food poisoning is very tough to pinpoint” and tried to deny that the food poisoning was a result of their food. I know for a fact that it was since I had eaten plain meals from my home only that day (which I then ate again no problem) and no one else in my party was sick. My symptoms were also clearly food poisoning and diagnosed by a medical professional (the staff member on the phone also tried to say that I may have had an alternative stomach virus unrelated to food). Overall, the restaurant staff tried to deny that this could have been related to them and never followed up with me or apologized. I would never go back here and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, as they could not accept that this happened or try to make an effort to improve food safety for other patrons.

Exceptional food and location! Perfect for a special night out! It's like they had a Hollywood set designer come in and create the most perfect summer dining experience, then created a menu to match the ambiance. Bravo! Try and get seated so you are there during sunset, and get there early to enjoy and drink and the oysters by the fire.
Hands-down the best restaurant experience on MV, year after year. Amazing food, gracious hospitality, and the setting...! Well worth the drive from Edgartown, and the price ($120 prix fixe) -- which is not something one can say about most MV restaurants.

We’ve been going to the Outermost Inn since it opened. We used to stay when it was an inn and have celebrated almost every one of our anniversaries there. Our dinner this year was maybe the best we’ve ever had. Every bite of food was absolutely delicious and the service was lovely.
The food was just okay. It was very overpriced for what we got. We were never offered coffee with dessert. They ran out of the filet, we were offered Weygu instead. One person in our party took this exchange, however there was an up charge of $10 that was never disclosed on what was a price fix menu. We paid $120 per person. Honestly the meal and dessert was not worth it. They advertised $115 on their website, then wanted an additional percentage for the kitchen, like a kitchen appreciation fee. We left stunned at what we had paid. Instead of remembering the food, all we could think about was how ripped off we got. On the plus side, the area was beautiful. If you look at the price of your meal as an entrance fee to a beautiful setting you may be able justify it.

Rudely shouting diners. No detectable lobster in lobster dumpling. Not much peach in the peach dessert. Ok preparation of scallops. One table behind us used the F-word constantly. Woman - young and full of herself - screamed her part of the conversation at table in front of us. We heard her from the parking lot. Beautiful location, but ill mannered customers ruined the ambiance.
We have been going to the Vineyard for 20 years and this may have been the best meal we have ever had on the island! It was a pre fixe menu and all of the choices were mouthwatering. Many of us had the lobster dumplings to start and I was pleased they were served with a delicate broth as opposed to being smothered in a cream sauce. It was amazing. My wife had the fried goat cheese spring roll and loved it. For the entree, my wife and I both had the Halibut which was perfectly prepared - seared but not overcooked. My son had a Filet Mignon that he insists is the best steak he has ever had, while my other boys had the crispy duck which also was perfectly prepared - crispy but still so moist. The desserts were not a disappointment, but could not live up to the incredible appetizers and entrees. I had the blueberry cheesecake which was average to slightly above average and my wife had the chocolate tart - which again was fine - just not as outstanding as the rest of the meal. We have been to Outermost Inn many years ago and I always remembered the view and location. But after this visit, I will always remember the food as well. It was truly outstanding.
We usually visit the Aquinnah area on our annual trip to Edgartown. Love the Lighthouse and the beautiful cliffs by the Ocean. ||We enjoyed the New Year’s Brunch on the porch. It was crowded and very loud but food was very well prepared and presented by what appeared to be a family operation. The staff was very polite and despite the over crowded conditions did a good job serving the throng of guests. I would like to go to a dinner there on next visit. ||Sadly , the inn rooms are not open.

Food was very good though fixed price has gone up to $120/person plus tax and tip. Most expensive meal I’ve had. We were seated on porch and got blasted with late afternoon sun and asked to be moved inside (even better view). Service was good. Desserts were incredible, entree was good but nothing special and appetizers and bonus palette cleansers were lovely. There us no sign anywhere so look for big white anchor. Outside waiting area is lovely also.
