The food here is fantastic. I float between the Mexico City tacos and the California tacos. The pre-entree bean dip is just spicy enough, and way better than the same ol' salsa you get everywhere else. The service is great, the food is fresh, the prices are fair, and they have 2 well stocked bars with great variety... One for salsa, one for alcohol. I can't say whether the menu is authentic, but at least it's unique - unlike nearly all of the other Mexican restaurants in town. My only beef... You'd better hope none of the other diners are celebrating a birthday. Because if so, the entire wait staff grabs pots and pans and drums and gongs and other implements of mass cacophony and beats the devil out of them for far too long, while singing (I guess you'd call it singing) what I assume is a birthday song with lyrics unique to each performer and not necessarily the same each time. Once the birthday girl was a sweet little old lady, and the guy with the biggest clang machine - it was as big as a satellite dish, and he was beating it with what looked like the thigh bone of a mastodon - stood right behind her and boom boom boomed with a smile, oblivious to the terror of birthday girl, eyes open wide, hands over ears. It's the only reason my family doesn't eat there weekly. But man... Those tacos. Love love love this place!! Food portions are huge and the food is delicious!!! Would highly recommend!! We come every time we are in town!! Ordered the Carnitas Fajita Quesadilla with avocado and cilantro added. Amazing taste! Did not like the large chunks of peppers, wish they were cut a little smaller. I think they do that to fill up the large tortilla. Overall, food was good and service was great. We decided that Papa's & Beer would be the best option for a birthday celebration. We enjoyed ourselves. I had the California Burrito( barely made a dent), Hubs-beef taco salad, Mom - beef with peppers & onions & rice, Bill- soft tacos & fries, Paula -beef loaded nachos, Mary- quesadilla,John- had shredded beef? Big surprise here come a bunch of employees shaking tambourines & our waitress brought me a fried ice cream with whipped cream with something that was like a Roman candle. Interesting & different. I did like this atmosphere better then another one close by. Our waitress was great. She had to help me decide. They have too many options😋Our two dishes were enough for four people.
