After visiting Brain Watkins House & Museum, you can look over the menu at this bar. The recipe for success of Picnicka is its perfectly cooked beef ribs, oysters and beef. Nothing can be better than tasting good lemon pie and tasty fruitcake. At this place, clients may drink good wine. The warm atmosphere of this spot makes visitors feel relaxed and have a nice time. What a beautiful space to drink and dine. Knowledgeable, helpful and friendly staff pulled the experience together seamlessly. Special thanks to Brie who created fantastic zingy and refreshing non alcoholic drinks; an area that is usually overlooked by establishments. She asked a couple of questions and freestyled excellent drinks for me - thank you so much! It was genuinely lovely to have this much care and attention given to non-alcoholic drinks and as a bonus, enjoyed her style/sass. Our servers were relaxed and patient when we took a while to decide. The food was outstanding. Exciting for me being vegetarian to see just how many dishes were available! Our wee table of three chose eight smaller plates of deliciousness. Special note about the Grilled Cos - you should absolutely try this. Smokey and spicy, crunchy and totally unexpected. Desert (baked cheesecake thank you very much) was on the house and we were absolutely full with a wee take away box for the following day. Thank you to the entire team for a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I will be back as many times as possible. One of our group has already returned within a few days. Best prawn cocktail in the world Delicious Pinot noir Exquisite tuna tartar and fresh asparagus Basque cheesecake was sublime This is definitely one of our favourite top places to dine at It's less expensive than Fife Lane and it's more expensive than a casual walk in restaurant. The best dining experience we have had in the bay! The fitout is stunning, staff fabulous and the food was really something else. Picnicka was new to us. Meeting friends for dinner it seemed like a good location, being kind of halfway between both of us, plus she’s an awkward vegetarian (who eats fish) and there seemed a lot of options on the menu. We had a very warm welcome when we arrived and thought the decor was beautiful. I didn’t really get the whole “picnic” theme that others have picked up, I just thought it was attractive and bonus points for great lighting that enabled us old decrepits to be able to read the menu! Happy hour G&T was ok, it was only when my friend got a full price one later that I realised I should have splashed out. Hers was a spectacular work of art, mine was beige by comparison. We went with sharing small plates and there was plenty to go around. I thought the prawn cocktail looked a little uninspired and the prawns had been frozen. Absolutely loved the chicken liver parfait with beautiful, pillowy, buttery brioche toast. I actually could eat this alone for the rest of my days. Every restaurant offers this, Picnicka’s is the best. But the beef tartare I hated. There was an overpowering taste of vinegar, not a fan. The Favourite Husband had the fish sliders and my friends husband the fried chicken. Two things of note, firstly they got stuck in so fast I wasn’t able to get a picture, secondly - THEY DID NOT SHARE. Unbelievable. So my friend and I had the buffalo cauliflower with a blue cheese sauce. This was the bomb. There’s plenty of other options on the menu to return and try. The staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. And we found it really good value for money. It was a great night, thank you Picnicka. We almost ordered all the small and large plates on the menu. The food taste amazing and the staff were very friendly. My personal favourites are tuna cerviche and grilled octopus. They were so tasty that we reordered that. The ambience was relaxing, I could stay there all day! We topped it off with a lemon tart and it's a must eat! If I had to be picky, I think the only thing I'd say is that the large plate aren't really that large at all. It's just normal size of a main dish so from that sense, it's a little pricey. Whilst the decor atmosphere was lovely, be mindful they don't cater for dairy intolerance. I got a $36 lamb burger without feta thinking this would be fine. Waitress came back to tell me they can put it on a gluten free bun, as the bun contains dairy. She later asked if I wanted tomato sauce on it, as it might be dry. I agreed yhibkong it would still be fancy. Then a pattie between some bread with tomato sauce turned up. I cried with laughter as it looked so disappointing. Tasted like a sad backyard BBQ. 5 minutes later my fries were brought out that they forgot. Can say the 10 chips were the best part of the meal. The environment is excellent - the menu from the last time we ate there has been updated and is actually boring and not up to the previous standard. The Lamb Burger leaves a lot to be desired, and the Eaton Mess had minimal meringue a couple of strawberries and some cream for an absurd price. I was looking forward to trying this new restaurant with a group of friends. We enjoyed sharing our small plates of yummy food and was looking forward to trying the desserts but the waitress appeared at the table just after 7 pm to say we had 12 minutes as the table we had booked was needed for another group and she presented us with the bill. We felt pushed out and were not offered a seat outside or anywhere to have coffee or dessert. I also found the background music a bit loud for our conversations. Left very disappointed. Usually a favourite restaurant of ours. We were a bit disappointed in the order the food came out this time with the 'side' dishes of chips and a salad coming out 20 minutes before the very rich meat dishes so the steak and ribs were too rich on their own.
