Disappointing. It is rather expensive for what you get. The setting, food, service, and presentation do not justify the prices. Most restaurants in this higher-end price range provide table cloths an napkins. This establishment has informal steel tables and chairs that are both wobbly and uncomfortable.
A significant number of menu items are not available, some of which do not make sense. For instance, the pineapple juice based mocktail can be ordered, but the alcoholic version can't be made because the pineapple juice is out of stock.
The staff give the wrong order to the bartender, and later blame the bartender for their ineptitude.
The food itself is nothing to rave about. The Thai curry is not Thai at all. It is a plain mother in law Durban curry at an inflated price.

Wow, where to start; first night at Sam Lameer walk into the inside dining area because the kids wanted to swim at the pool (as residents they may swim here) the lady at the front desk says we cannot sit there because it's reserved for the evening, although there were people sitting there having lunch we were now not allowed to sit there, we were told so sit outside at their more casual Cafe seating area. Horrendous experience, day 2 we give it another shot, again we were told we cannot sit inside because everything is reserved, cool we respect that, sit outside again as the previous day, to my demise we were treated to the exact same horrendous treatment, waiter has no clue what she is doing there, it's so sad because my family gets upset with me when I complained but I refuse to accept poor service, my kids didn't have their toasted sandwiches after more than 90 minutes, we already finished eating and my kids didn't get their food. Our bill was a mess, had to order drinks myself at the bar, was truly a shocking experience today, I cannot comprehend how poor this visit was and the rudeness of the staff tops everything. You can see the staff discussing you, it's totally ridiculous, we will rather drive to Ramsgate and eat somewhere where we at least get service, this was not my intention to write this but I see it's the going concession that everyone complains about this place, the management I truly feel for them because they are trying but a bad waiter can ruin the entire experience when going out it's so bad.

Don't waste your money, we dined there for 2 nights unfortunately and they change your order depending on what they have without telling you. Staff unhelpful, food subpar and sometimes downright inedible. Terrible terrible place

The food and service were great. Not sure why there are so many bad reviews. Not our experience at all after three visits. Going back again.

Beautiful place, even though they had 2 functions going on they still attended to all our needs and food was delicious. Lamb Shank for the win.

Stayed there for my dad's birthday. He ordered a steak with mushrooms and hand cut fries. Waitress brought a plate with streak and roasted vegetables instead. We told the waitress it was the incorrect order but she said they were out of mushrooms. She could have informed us of this beforehand so we could have changed the order. My sister and I ordered the chicken chow mein but the chicken was still pink on the inside. Waitress (Theodore) seemed annoyed with us when we complained about the food even though we didn't request for the kitchen to redo or replace the order. Furthermore we were told they will do a "Happy Birthday" message on the dessert plate but it was not done. Later on after we left the restaurant I called the restaurant to find out if they possibly had any candles or a lighter for a birthday cake we had. The person who answered put me on hold for over 15mins then someone cut the call without checking if someone was still on the line. Really disappointing service.

This was a real let down. The staff were completely and utterly useless and food terrible. We asked for tomatoe sauce, it never came, we ordered water and it was charged on the bill but never arrived and the food took over an hour to come even though there was hardly anyone in the restaurant as we arrived after the lunch time rush. We ordered burgers for us and the kids and although they charge a different price they were exactly the same which was a cheap bun and thin patty. The chips were soggy and cold.

Our first night at San Lameer so we were very excited to have our first meal of the holiday. To say the entire experience was upsetting is an understatement. From the general service, quality of food and not being able to read a menu it went from bad to worse. The menu is available only on qr code which is all good and well but what happens when there is load shedding and no phones are working. We had to wait over 10 mins to use a managers phone and even then it couldn't download. Surely they should keep a few printed copies for such emergencies? The food was substandard .. my husband's fish was still frozen. We never got asked if we would like another drink ..... from our first order taken we were never asked again if we would like something else. The menu is relatively expensive so surely to expect some decent food is not unreasonable? We understand that there was loadshedding but then we would expect at least some attentive service from waiters and/or managers which was nowhere to be seen. My husband accidentally dropped his glass of wine which we had to clean up ourselves and then searched for napkins to wipe up the spilt wine even after asking for assistance. It was just overall a very sad experience which ensured that we would not visit again during our stay. On a lighter note we loved staying at San Lameer villas and hope that when we return the service and entire experience at the restaurant has been improved.
