A tiny restaurant with an ever changing tasting menu. Superb food, excellent service and amazing value. Probably the best restaurant in town. Such a shame we were the only people eating as they deserve to be successful. If you’re in the area make a reservation. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3

A hidden Gem in Patzcuaro! This is a fine dining experience. Attention to every detail, please make a reservation to make sure you can get in. Upon entering there was a beautiful sign on our table with our name not just your average "reserved" sign (nice touch), candles and plates ready and even a cork to set my silverware on for after I am done eating. The décor was extremely tasteful and the art on the wall was a truly beautiful blend of color and skill. The food was top quality, not overly salted (add your own it's on the table) and all fresh. It's hard to find a meal where you can taste every ingredient but this is the place to do it. I had the lamb and it was fall off the bone, portions are smaller but again this is quality. Presentation was on point, the drinks were strong and a great price. No room for disappointment on this plate. Thank you for making our last evening in town memorable. Wish we had found you sooner. What an interesting place for dinner. The staff was super sweet and kind. The chef even came out to say hello! I really, really wanted to like this place given all of the positive reviews… However, the food missed the mark. Everything was either overly cooked and dry or overly sweet. This is a spot for ex-pats looking for something reminiscent of home minus the taste profile. I stopped taking pictures after the second course.

The food is stellar, the host is great, the setting is nice and cozy. If I were the one giving out Michellin stars, I'd give Santo Huacal one star! Definitely worth it going out of your way to be here. Don't forget to make a reservation as it is small (which makes it magical).

New years menu was clumsy. The first drink everyone disliked. No options for drinks. Servers are not attentive, which is strange with 3. There was a couple of dishes that tasted good but needed a better presentation. The food is average but adventurous. Waiters should explain the dishes. This will be considered "Fine dining" to people who have little experience. I will try one more menu here but being from Las Vegas my expectations for a tasting menu is quite high.

I have never been disappointed in my meals here. The set menus, which change weekly, offer something for everyone, with a meat or vegetarian main course. Each of the courses is unique and well prepared with good presentation. It is reservation only, and we always get wonderful service.. This is our go-to for a special meal. Our second time dining here and it is our favorite when visiting Patzcuaro. The innovation is exceptional. Service very attentive. The price for 5 courses was 420. pesos. Winter nights are cool and we used our coats. Reservations a must.

I have been to Santo Huacal numerous times since moving here last year. I look forward to a refreshingly international menu each visit Nowhere could be more quaint and better serviced by the lovely owners, Samantha and Miguel!!!! You'll find Miguel up front, and Samantha creating those wonderful aromas from the kitchen. 🥑🍒🍑🍉🌶🧀🥘🥩🥗🍣🍧🍨 And for me, poor student, they both speak English fluently as well as Spanish.😎

Unique and creative dishes with lovely presentation, wonderful flavors. A fabulous dining experience in a cozy environment. The folks who own it are friendly and welcoming. Even the prices are reasonable. Reservations are a must.
