We were traveling through town and actually looking for another restaurant when we turned around to try this spot. Their signage and lighting caught my attention. I am so glad we stopped! It is not a very fancy place but the service by Torey was fantastic. She was very friendly & took great care of us. I chose the Shrimp Tacos, and they were the best fried I’ve ever had! The flavor combination and crispy shell were outstanding. Everything just worked together! I normally would not have chosen a Taco at a place like this, but I did not see an Oyster combo on the menu, so it was a fluke that I ordered them. I also ordered a Two Fried Oyster add-on, and they were quite tasty! Fried just right, without being too soft inside. This was my first time ever visiting a Shrimp Basket, and I will definitely be on the lookout for another. I highly recommend trying the Tacos, and I will without hesitation order again! I was raving so, my husband just had to have a bite. My meal won out over his Seafood Combo. We love all of the shrimp Basket locations. Our a favorite item on the menu Is their shrimp basket, but occasionally we will get the popcorn shrimp or the shrimp poor boy . Occasionally my wife will get the crabcakes. They are all excellent. And I love their shrimp slaw which you get with the shrimp basket or as a side. The service there is usually quick unless they have a huge crowd. I don’t take the three star rating on atmosphere as a knock on the franchise. The atmosphere is just fine, It’s just nothing fancy. We had a great experience here on 2/17/24. We had a party of 20+ that arrived at different times and without calling ahead(I was under the impression our planner of the dinner did call ahead). I could tell the employees were frustrated on this busy Saturday evening because they had 3/4 other large parties to accommodate. Yet, they all greeted us with smiles on their faces and seemed very pleasant. Although it took a while to get our food, what we did get was great and the hot food was hot, and the cold food was cold. Our waitress was obviously overwhelmed dealing with us and one of the other large parties, but she did a fabulous job getting our food out and even drink refills when she noticed we were low. I'm sure some in our party were a pain to deal with, but she kept right on doing her job the best she could. Although there was some mix up with the many separate checks, we had a great supper celebrating several birthdays in our party. It was my first time trying the blackened redfish, and it was amazing. I applaud all of these hard workers, and I just pray the rest in our party tipped these fine folks for all of their hard work that evening. Thanks Shrimp Basket for a great evening out. My husband and I were traveling to Dallas, TX recently and enjoyed a delicious meal at this location. We do not have Shrimp Basket Restaurants near our home in North Georgia, so we designed our driving route to Dallas around being able to dine at this location. We were glad we stopped! Our waitress, Kimberly "Kimmie" provided us great southern hospitality which was welcome after being in the car traveling for a while. She was quick to keep our drinks refilled and bring whatever we needed to our table in spite of serving several other tables. The food was delicious including our piece of key lime pie. Tony Daniel is doing a great job in creating a culture at this restaurant of excellence and hospitality. It is not an easy task these days with inflation and labor difficulties. Keep up the great work Team Tuscaloosa Shrimp Basket!! We can't wait till our travels bring us back to your restaurant for some more delicious food. :) Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

This was my first time at the Shrimp Basket here in Tuscaloosa. The atmosphere was nice and my server Dawn was excellent. She went above and beyond asking if I needed refills on my drinks or if everything was to my liking. Thank you for having her as one of your staff and having a great atmosphere and great food. I stopped by The Shrimp Basket for lunch the other day and it was amazing. Our waitress Megan took care of us and she was the sweetest and did a great job. Only reason for 4/5 is the kitchen was pretty slow - 20 mins. The AYCE catfish was hitting in all the best areas: crisp, perfectly breaded and delicious. I will definitely go back for it. Honestly, this place isn’t great. I ate here a couple of days ago with my dad and had a pretty iffy experience. I definitely won’t be back here again because of it. Our server was fantastic though (I can’t remember her name, but she was absolutely wonderful)! She was very attentive, hardworking, and made sure we were satisfied with our meals. The other servers who were working that day were either not working diligently or were on a break because there were three other servers talking at a table in the back for about an hour while this girl was running around making sure all her tables were satisfied. She did a fantastic job at handling the situation though. She was really the best part about this restaurant because everything basically goes downhill from there. Negatives: -The bathrooms are DISGUSTING -Silverware was dirty (asked for a new fork) -Out of several items or were told they were not good and to not order them -Portions are pretty small for the price -OVERPRICED FOOD -Fries were droopy (not very crispy) Positives -The combo basket with whitefish and shrimp was good (waitress recommended), but the portion was small. -The homemade ranch and hot sauce was really good on the fish. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place and won’t be back. There are better seafood places in Tuscaloosa. You’re better off going to the Captain D’s next door than here. We have been coming to the Shrimp Basket every couple of weeks. We always enjoyed the visit. We went 2/3/24 and had the worst experience ever. The waitress finally brought our food and never came back. No refill on tea or water. We noticed everyone was having the same problem except for one waitress. I don't know her name but she was the only black waitress. She took care of her clients. We won't be back...
