Avoid this place!! Raw pork dumplings. Frozen oysters advertised as fresh but tasted watery with no flavour. Ordered Montreal fries but were given loaded fries. 2nd waitor told us they were Montreal fries. About 10mins later we bought it to 1st waitors attention he said they were sold out of gravy and caramelised onion. He offered to put mushroom gravy onto our then cold chips. Really?
Poor execution of food. Tasted below average. Medium rare steak served rare.
Everything came out separately.
Not sure how this place made it onto Eat Street. Very disappointing. We finished our first round of drinks and went elsewhere. 1 really friendly waiter was the only thing going for this place.

Frozen Pam's chicken tenders were the "southern fried chicken", frozen mini hotdogs was the "cheese dog". Hotdogs were average, nothing like the last time we came. Everything is wayyyy overpriced for what it is, we had a half price discount and that was still too much for what you get. McDonald's has better food.
Don't know what happened to this place, used to be good.

Just not great. The steak was well done instead of medium rare. Fries were cold and chewy. The hotdog was just a store bought one with extra trimmings (bun split in two so you can’t eat with your hands too). The burger patties were also just pre-fab, heated from frozen I imagine. Guy at counter seemed grumpy and unfriendly. Come here if you really wanna roll the dice on getting good food or not.

We had been recommended this place by a lady who had gone with her family a week before. Great prices, great food, great service. The milkshake machine was broken but the server said he could make a mocktail for the kids (teens haha) which they both loved. The steak meals were cooked beautifully (one blue, one rare), fresh salad. The oil/drizzle over the pork dumplings was delicious. Very accommodating with a menu change. My only feedback....carrots should have been julienned not a couple of circles, and less salt on the chips (people can salt more themselves if they want more salt). $146 for 4 adult meals, 1 kids meal, 6 oysters and 4 non-alcoholic drinks.100% going back there when in Rotorua next. Sobar = So Good!

the best thing about this place is that if you have a family with a variety of tastes that you will find something to make everyone happy. Gourmet hot dog, burgers, chicken, vegetarian etc and the quality was great. The place had gas heaters to keep us warm on a cold night so all good. Very happy with our selection.
Overcharged $$$.
Ordered kids meal which was half price - charged full price and charged for another tables bill. Recheck bill before paying. Food is less than average, table was sticky and service was poor.

Unfortunately a pretty average experience. Fish and chips with no really love. A mixed platter with edemame beans that were cooked to absolute death. The food sort of gave a "cooked from a frozen bag" kind of impression. No burger buns available, no ginger beer. No table check. Just left unimpressed, a bit hungry still and no desire to return. All a bit "meh".
Drinks specials advertised… not carried out.. cocktails juice with some flowers? However I have to note, the ambiance here is impeccable. Seems to be like the go to local spot on a weekend night. Come here for live music, dancing, and great people watching. Just don’t order a cocktail. Stick with a beer instead :)
Really lovely fresh fish. So tasty and hot. Mean hot dogs and chips for my 6yr old.
Very filling. Lots of sauces to use and dipping sauces. Would eat again there.

We had an amazing time at Sobar & cafe. The food was great, portion were huge and the service was awesome. Would recommend for anyone looking for a good time & good food
