Tucked away on the beautiful Isla Mujeres, Soggy Peso is a must-visit establishment for those seeking a lively atmosphere and delicious Mexican cuisine. The restaurant offers a casual, beachy ambiance with outdoor seating and a pontoon at the rear. Inside, the decor is quirky and fun, with American football hats hanging from the ceiling and entertaining dichos (quotes) adorning the walls. While prices are reasonable, Soggy Peso is cash-only, so be sure to come prepared. The menu features a range of tasty dishes, including the popular lobster tacos, shrimp ceviche, beef fajitas, and onion rings. For drinks, the margaritas are a standout, known for their strength and deliciousness. The frozen painkillers are also a hit among patrons. The friendly staff provides excellent service, making Soggy Peso a great spot to relax and unwind after touring the island. Whether you're looking for a quick bite or a night out with friends, this fine dining spot has something for everyone.

Weirdly over hyped dive bar. Small menu with hardly anything interesting and nothing authentic. We came for drinks and a bite to eat. When I asked for a menu I was told kitchen didn't open for another 15 min. Ok. When I finally got the menu there was nothing worth trying. We paid for drinks and left. I gave 2 stars for the view of the ocean and convenient location. Staff wasn't exactly what I'd call friendly either. Not sure what's so special about this place. Skulls Landing bar 2 doors down has better music; friendly staff and a great menu full of delicious items both American and Mexican and is much nicer atmosphere with basically the same view.

It's the vibe you want on the island when you just want to kick back with a cold beer or margarita. They also have food, including a daily special; we usually get the Sikil Pak (pumpkin seed) dip. It's under new management and a few things have changed since last year, but overall still a spot we have to swing into when we're on the island. It's mostly tourists/ex-pats, moreso than a locals hangout, but the bartenders are chill and it still has more of a divebar feel than fancy (which we prefer). As it caters to tourists the prices aren't dirt cheap but decent $4 beers and $8-9 cocktails. Tips: -- pretty sure it's cash only. -- They have a new sign that makes it easier to find but the bar is behind the building on the street -- just follow the signs. -- There are only a few golf cart spots in the lot directly out front of the bar, however a few feet away you'll see another sign that says Additional Soggy Peso parking and there's a huge lot there. -- If you walk past the bar you can take your drink out to a small beach, water view.

omg this place is awesome! bring a hat or something to sign and hang on the top of the tiki hut. I don't even drink and I loved the vibe here. I would go over and over again if I could. One of our favorite memories from vacation. highly recommend, a must see on the island!

A highlight of our spontaneous trip to Isla Mujeres! Our server, Sandy, was so friendly and provided great service. The drinks were strong (especially the margaritas!) and both times we ate there, the food was great. Our favorite dishes were the shrimp ceviche and the lobster tacos. We can’t wait to come back!

One of our favorite stops in Isla Mujeres. The food was absolutely delicious but the view that we had while enjoying our quick meal was stunning! The service obviously was incredible. 1000% recommended

We we're a group of 12. There were 4 other people at the bar. We all sat at the bar. The staff ignored us for 20 minutes. Will not go there again. It is crossed off our list of favorite places.

Vibe was good. Drinks were not. Warm margarita from a vat poured over ice didn't taste fresh at all. Was recommended to try this place but unfortunately disappointed.

The location and vibe is super cool, especially the downstairs dock where folks can motor up and have a drink. We were disappointed that our drinks came out in Styrofoam cups, and that there famous Margaritas weren't that great and weren't blue anymore.

Worthwhile place to drink a margaritas, each some bar food, and watch the waves come in. The food was pretty basic, but solid. View and service were great.

Be aware if you can't handle your margaritas! 😂 😂 That vat of margaritas is dangerous. When I was there, they had beef tacos on the menu and they did not disappoint. Watch out for the spider on a string when washing your hands. 😂 😂 Tricksters!
