Good food, but nothing special.Service was a little slow. We wait long time for food. We stayed just in front for 3 nights, that the reason why we try this restaurant.

I ordered a bowl of fish chowder, it was just above room temperature. My meal was corned beef and cabbage. My boiled potato was also very cool. My wife had a burger, hard as a rock, completely overcooked. I have heard good things about this place and are are here years ago and it was good, but this experience has ruined any chance of me going back unfortunately.

We have been here several times. This visit we had the haddock sandwich, the haddock was grilled. It was so good, I will definitely order again. There is a claw machine there and a ms pacman video game. Entertainment for the young ones.

This place is a great hometown bar. Waitresses and bartenders are good and the food is wonderful. Friday nights they have prime rib and that is to die for. You can't go wrong by stopping in for a beverage, appetizer or a meal. I hope you enjoy your visit.

Sunset Grill is a local delight in Belgrade. Like many other restaurants in the post pandemic era they are light on staff, but big on heart and hospitality. My visit was during week day breakfast hours. The menu was featured typical breakfast fare with eggs, meats, pancakes, and french toast. The feature of the breakfast were the homemade breads and muffins. The raspberry muffin was large with an adequate tops that was ever so lightly crispy. The french toast was perfectly prepared on thick bread with slightly sweet and custardy flavor. I only wish it had arrived hot. Our party of 8 all had egg based meals and I feel like my plate was probably the first to be made. Even though it wasn't particularly warm, it still had great flavor. I attribute this to the short staff.
I felt the portions were representative of the price paid. Although the outdoor seating did not provide any lake views, the seating was adequate and it was nice to enjoy the Maine morning sun.
If you're in the Belgrade area I would recommend a visit to Sunset Grill. I will make another visit during dinner lunch as I am looking forward to trying some of their homemade pie.

May 19, 2021 - As you enter the small Sunset Grill in Belgrade, you feel as though you could be in any small town diner. It’s a meal that you don’t have to cook, and the menu has plenty of “home cooking” options. This diner offers enough variety for everyone in the group, regardless of age.
The menu items are a step up from fast food, and Pam (my server) did a fine one-woman lunch time service in Maine. (Maine struggles with finding enough employees in most restaurants & businesses . . . older demographic trends folks) I liked my fish chowder, not as top notch as restaurants along Maine’s coast. The soft pretzels were from a box, but it was soft & hot . . . I hope they kick their beer cheese & mustard into gear . . . rather bland? I liked the Cushnoc Porter, good mix of Maine beers! Then I topped off my lunch with a piece of strawberry/rhubarb pie & pecan pie , both homemade and both very good! (Took the pieces of pie home to share with my wife) The desserts pulled Sunset Grill’s rating up to 4 stars! The Sunset Grill offers a small bar area, outside deck seating, and occasionally live music, I’m told.
I can’t help but imagine the “glory days” of the early 1900’s of Moosehead Lake or Belgrade . . . You would stay either at a summer cottage or the large grand hotels! Possibly come up by train, arrive at the RR Depot, and have your luggage escorted over to your hotel room. You’d enjoy a fancy meal in a large dinning room, most likely listening to music from a hired band, and dancing into the night!
Times are a-changing . . .
Across the street from the Sunset Grill is a park with a gazebo, probably for those summer concerts. Hopefully those bands will return as we move beyond the Covid era?
I visited this resturaunt on the wrong day and time: Friday at 4:30pm. I met a friend I haven't seen in a long time. This is my towns go-to place for happy hour so we practically had to shout to hear each other! The food was delicious but only small portions at high prices as everywhere else now.
So we will return on a different day and time and can better critique this obviously popular diner.

Grew up in Belgrade coming to the grille but this latest experience left me disappointed. I can see there has been an effort to renovate but the atmosphere is still lacking. The number of seating has decreased due to removing the booths. And then noise level was high, even when the place was not even close to full. We sat inside and fought of flys the entire time. There was a disgusting odor that my husband and I both noticed. Maybe coming from the carpet that our feet were sticking to. The food was okay. Waitress was doing double duty as bartender. Just wasn’t the friendly, nice place I remember. Won’t rush back.

The atmosphere is a combination of family restaurant & bar combined. The restaurant is extremely casual. My server was wearing a T-shirt, biking/exercise shorts, and I think Crocs. I ordered the fish soup which was mediocre; it was too salty, and it had a cream-based broth that was actually thin. I also had the fish tacos which were excellent! The fish in the tacos was breaded and deep-fried, the vegetables were fresh, and the sauce was delicious. When I am in the area again I will go back and try some other menu items. Service was fine, I didn't wait too long for my food to arrive, my server was requisitely friendly.

I would like to say it wasn't their best night, however this was my first time in the place. Service was slow. I ordered a special and then 20 minutes later, they told me they were out of it. So I ordered the shepherd's pie. The pie was cold on the inside and did not offer the best impression of the food. This is a place to hang out and pass over if you are in any kind of a rush. I am giving 3 stars to give them the benefit of the doubt since my brother has been here before and suggested the food.
