Best restaurant that I’ve been to here in the Philippines (yet). I need to come back here to try the Pinatubo Set. The food here is interesting and unbelievably scrumptious and filling. The entire place and ambience is perfect, just make sure to bring mosquito patches / spray. And the team is very welcoming and friendly too. Maybe next time, I’ll bring my mom here too. Worth the travel time coming to this place. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person ₱2,000+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Ube Molten Lava Cake

This cozy restaurant has left the best impressions! First time in Tahanan Bistro and it’s the cutest spot with amazing food. For us, the Pinatubo and Tapulao set were really good. The service we received was so amazing. Special thanks to Wata for the great service. She made us feel welcomed and gave us an amazing experience. Hospitable staff, delicious dishes, beautiful presentation, and wonderful dessert. We will definitely be back again. We visited Tahanan Bistro to have lunch with an overlooking view. The ambience gives you the nature/probinsya vibe coz of all the greens surrounding the main resto. So we ordered Tapulao set and you have to keep in mind that you can only order in sets and not in ala carte. The food were served like a fine-dinning starting with an appetizer up to the dessert. Tbh, the menu were just normal foods with a twist which for me was not apt for its price but a good experience though. Go here if you are celebrating something important but never just on a whim. Bang for buck - one of the most affordable tasting menus near Manila. The ambience is good and the food is a modern take on Filipino cuisine. Expect though na super init during lunchtime and you’ll be sweating even with the fans out, so I recommend having the meal closer to dinnertime instead. My favorite set menu would be the Pugito! We came here last Jan 20, lunch time. Service was great. Atmosphere was cool and comfy. Place is an old house with a really pretty garden. We were sat by the windows and view was of the mountain with a some part of Laguna de bay peeking in the middle. We had the Pinatubo and Samat sets, but the Arroz Caldo was not available at that time (sayang ito pa naman yung gusto namin tikman huhu), so we swapped it with Palabok from the Tapulao set. The free bread and dip given at the start was so-so. We had more fun dipping it with the soup (Suam na Mais) that came with our sets. The soup was also just okay. We liked Samat's Sinigang more than Pinatubo's Kinilaw. The latter was spicy. Both were just okay. Pinatubo's Pares was good, likely 3.5/5 and I really enjoyed the sauce and the adlai coupled with the ox tongue Samat's Palabok was creamy and savort but Pares was better for me. The fruit popsicles were forgettable. Surprisingly, the dessert dishes for both sets won the entire thing and were easily the best dishes we had for both sets. I finished with gusto Pinatubo's Maja Blanca, and I usually skip Maja Blanca basically everytime I encounter it. But this one I enjoy so much. It was not too sweet, the corn and coconut mousse was perfect with that chiffon cake and everything was so balanced. But the best dish was Samat's Ube molten lava cake which was so good. This is saying a lot again, because I don't eat Ube (I don't hate it, but i also don't prefer it). But this one I would eat any day. If you're gonna base your decision on which set menu to choose based on dessert, then you should choose Samat for this Ube lava cake hands down. What a rare occurrence to find a tasting menu that leaves you both excited and full at the same time! The dishes are familiar but unique enough to warrant curiosity. As our party all ordered different sets, we concluded that they were all equally tasty! Would definitely come back despite the long drive from the city. Heard they switch menus every so often. Good dining experience. A friend had his wedding here and it was exceptional from start to finish. Food tasted so good and prepared neatly, service was fast/accommodating and ambience was right on spot for the theme. Looking forward to visit again to try their other courses. Just one thing for improvement though is maintenance of this place. It is still clean and presentable but I’d like to see it soon on its finest state.
To start off, the place was really home-y since it's around a residential area. The restaurant was filled with greenery that contributed a lot to the overall experience. Entering the resto, guests must remove their shoes as part of their policy. They offer course meals with different dishes that include: starter, salad, entree, popsicles, and dessert. The food was really great and the menu was very well designed. At first we were a little worried about the portions but after finishing the whole course, we found ourselves more than satisfied with the whole experience. I recommend this place for special dates, birthdays, celebrations, and small weddings. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Ube Molten Lava Cake

Extraordinary food. Excellent ambience. Rushed (and therefore mediocre) service. It's a bit of a shame since they serve sublime modern Filipino cuisine and in such tranquil surroundings. But having a two-hour timer and constant and not-so-subtle reminders to hurry up makes it hard to truly appreciate the tastes and sights. My suggestion to them: have an 11am and 130pm seating instead of the current 11am and 1pm seating. I suspect the latter seating will be willing to wait the extra minutes more. And both seatings will remember their meals for extra years. My friend's suggestion to others: for truly special occasions, book two seatings in a row and come hungry (and order two set menus each). It will be twice as expensive but a three times better an experience. P.S. Tahanan shattered one of assumptions I've held for the longest of times, that Filipino food can't be enjoyed without rice.
