Having seen Deep Canyon, it's time to have a rest at this pizzeria. The Italian cuisine is nice at The Cow. Most guests recommend trying good vegetable pizza, prawns and garlic pizza bread. It's time to degustate delicious rosé wine, draft beer or mulled wine. At this place, you can order food as a takeout. Most guests state that the staff is terrific. Service at this spot is something one can name cool. Prices are democratic for the quality you get. There is a lovely ambiance and spectacular fireplace at this pizzeria. Delicious food! I could easily see why the garlic bread is famous as it comes as a whole loaf. There was plenty of garlic on top too, so don’t be discouraged by the other reviews on here. The side salad was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten - the house dressing was divine. As for the pasta, I wish the menu said there would be cheese on top because I would have ordered it without, but I guess I should have asked? Overall, the atmosphere was lovely. Not as good as it once was. The garlic loaf was huge but lacked garlic. The pizzas were extremely disappointing. Lacked cheese and way too much of the topping was onion. The famous bolognese was embarrassingly bad as was their other very confused pasta option. The staff throwing rubbish into the fire did not help the smoke. This was one our favourites in town. We decided to ignore the negative reviews as a local had recommended to us. The bread part of the garlic bread was amazing but we would have liked more garlic. Our pizza was decent - we chose a plain one so there isn't much you can do with that but the crust was good and it was well balanced. Fabulous home style cooking at its best! Character filled gorgeous little restaurant, so cozy with an old fire place and rustic tables. Super friendly staff. Generous portions. Get there early!! This must be a NZ taste or something as there is nothing authentically Italian about the pizza. Doughy and heavy bases. Ours kids love pizza in various shapes and forms but did not like this and hardly ate any. A shame for almost $40 per pizza! summary: more cheese doesn’t save a terrible pizza/pasta Can’t believe the restaurant price they’re charging for grocery-quality pizza. If we hadn’t already pre-served the pasta we would’ve sent it back because it was so bland and just cheese. Would’ve honestly been better off going to domino’s - at least the base wouldn’t have been soft & soggy. I would avoid.
