great place to cater in, Awesome service and atmosphere. However, the food gets a star off. Great quantity, But too much oil in the Garden Benedict, my friend says that there's some sort of fishy smell on it. (Food -2) Great taste of the apple pancake, thin layer of pancake bread, thick layer of egg tarts and real-chunk apple sauce.(Food +1) Service Dine in Meal type Breakfast Price per person $10–20 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes The Original Pancake House Coffee Mug Red
Pictured in my review are the 49er pancakes, dutch baby with strawberry and bananas, and the strawbana waffle. The Dutch baby was the most expensive item at about $20 and there is also a longer wait time for this item. It tasted crispy on the edges and very egg like in the center. It had the consistency of french toast and it was served with lemons and syrup. The strawbana waffle tasted like any other hotel waffle. It was the cheapest item but it still tasted good. Lastly, the 49er pancakes were new to me and definitely a treat! They were as thin as crepes but tasted like pancakes. I’m not a fan of crepes but these 49er pancakes were delicious. They were easily my favorite of the three dishes. Keep in mind that these pancakes are huge but thin. The service was good the waitress didn’t check up on us that often because everyone at my table got water. We had about 8 people in our party and we only had a 5 minute wait time on a Friday morning. The place can be a little tricky to find with gps so you might have to drive around the plaza a bit. Parking is so so depending on the time of day that you go. It can be difficult to find a spot up close. The pricing was a bit on the pricer side but some of the food was worth it. Overall, I suggest you check this place out if you’re ever in the area and looking for breakfast food! Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
This is my favorite pancake spot to date. It's an ideal location for brunch in CU, offering a delightful selection of pancakes. I highly recommend giving it a visit if you're in the area and looking for a satisfying brunch experience. The pancakes are particularly noteworthy and are sure to impress. Great Game Day breakfast. Food was delicious. Service was great. Illini fans were in attendance! (Original review 09/16/2023) Returned November 11, 2023 and ate breakfast before the Illinois football game. We were seated immediately and a server took our drink order. We then ordered our meal. Within minutes she returned and took our food order. The service was outstanding and the food delicious. I highly recommend the Eggs Michael. 5 stars all around! Very busy here on a Saturday about 90 minutes before closing time. Had a little bit of a wait for a table, but not too bad. The place is quite dated and didn't feel as clean as it could be. I did use the ladies room and it was clean tho. All the toilet seats are bidets, which was quite a surprise. I guess it would save them on toilet paper if everyone uses it. If you've never tried one is a perfect way to give it a whirl. I never had and it was actually much better than I thought it might be! Our waiter was nice and took our order quickly. It didn't take long for our food to arrive. We got the eggs benedict with potato pancakes. They were thicker than what we get at a location in NC, which would be fine, but they were pretty greasy, so kinda a letdown. Next time we're this way we'll try the one up in Normal. This is my favorite breakfast place in Champaign County. And I would argue the best place too in Vermilion and Champaign area. I've been here multiple times, and the service is always top-notch, food is consistently good, and the cleanliness is optimal. My favorite thing to order here is strawberry crepes, and occasionally, I do order other entrees. I haven't had a bad experience with the taste and quality of their food. The orange juice is made here fresh. The coffee is free refill, and I love that they would give you a small container of cream. The servers are always friendly. The portion is always big that the price is worth paying for. You can reserve via online or walk-in. I usually reserve online on a weekend because they get super busy. I was surprised to see that they have bidet here. I love how they continuously try to get with modern technology to give the best for their customer. The atmosphere is cozy, fresh, and positive. I called to order breakfast for carryout because I was on my way out of town and the last time I ordered eggs, this restaurant did not let down. I was on hold for 5 minutes because the woman answering the phone told me she could not take my order but her coworker could. I would have used the web site to order but it is not very easy to use. After being on hold, I decided to call back. Immediately the woman working was able to take my order down: scrambled eggs cooked soft with cheddar cheese, along with a cup of orange juice. I was told to pick up the order in 10-15 minutes. After getting to the restaurant, I realized they had removed their carryout parking spaces. This was very disappointing and inconvenient. I couldn't park close to the restaurant and had to get my baby out in the cold and walk over. I got inside to see that my order had not been sent to the kitchen yet. Nobody apologized for my waiting. I stood in the restaurant for about 20 minutes. I paid for the food before it was brought out. It is a little expensive there, but it's always amazing. I finally was given the food. I drove out of town before I could stop to eat. When I opened the food and took a bite, it was surprisingly terrible. The eggs were not cooked "soft" as I had asked (and they gladly will cook as such if you ask, I have ordered this many times and it was always perfect), and even worse they were burnt. I've never had burnt anything from this restaurant and am very disappointed. Service Take out Meal type Breakfast Price per person $20–30 Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2
