3)Happy to report that Waffle Cafe at Alzu is OPEN again!!! 2)Sadly Waffle Cafe is closed... 1)Having run in here on two previous stops and had the best service from 2 friendly ladies, I look forward to doing it again tomorrow!! I am quite picky about my coffee, and they got it spot on, both times!! The toasted Chicken Mayo sandwiches were also delicious & hot! Prepared with a dash of speed! Nice place to stop on the road. Situated by a private game reserve with rhinos, ostriches, oryx, sable, and buffaloes. Decent coffee and a gift shop in one place. Service Dine in Meal type Breakfast Price per person R 1–50 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Staff extremely unfriendly. Waffle arrived cold. Even when you ‘eat in’ you still get your food in a polystyrene holder with the most flimsy plastic fork and knife that can't even cut into a waffle. Very disappointing for such a decent place as Alzu Perdepoort! Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2

Great waffles but terrible staff who were extremely rude and unfriendly, got our order wrong and then blamed us for placing a wrong order. They’re clearly are not happy with their jobs, please quit instead of giving customers terrible service

Delicious gem of a pitstop between Jhb and Boven / Kruger. Much better than the more traditional Milly's. The clue is in the name - must have a waffle!

We waited in line for 5 minutes while two ladies were having their own private conversation. Finally reaching the counter one lady disappeared and the other kept on fudging with a coffee machine. We left, went to Mug and bean. Came back and the man who were in line behind us were still there waiting for service. Read the other comments and notice that in 3 years time they still haven't done anything about the rude service. Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Informal setting with fantastic views of the animals at Alzu. Service is fast and food is generally good. However I can't rate higher than a 3 on this occasion. I had to send a plate of food back TWICE because I was given rock-hard eggs instead of the soft eggs I asked for. I'm not sure the cook knows how to soft poach an egg, so after two failed attempts to get soft eggs I eventually just left the eggs and ate the rest of the meal. The attitude (laughing and rolling eyes) of Cate when I sent the plate back was disconcerting. But, generally, I can't fault anything else. Learn to soft poach eggs and be a bit more courteous to customers and I'll be back.

a fairly busy 10am morning at Tha Waffle Cafe... baristas should really be trained to international standard as far as speed is concerned... as a trained barista myself... the key to good coffee is time yet this is ridiculous... this is afterall a lot of travellers come to... staff should be trained accordingly... the order system and collection system is so closely entwined in such confined space... illy should perhaps assess the layout and experience of staff ... or perhaps as opposed to looking at the bottomline.. (profits)... owners should invest in another machine... proper training and layout where people do not trample on one another when ordering and wanting to collect.... We were hoping for coffee and light lunch but the lady who “served” us was so unfriendly that we left and went somewhere else. Shocking service! Service: 1
