Best restaurant in Mexico, maybe anywhere. Warm welcome followed by a tasty basket of 4 different homemade tostadas with salsas and chutney. We started with “chicharron” de queso with a salsa macha made from Chiapas chiles from Simojovel which Chef Marta Zepeda brought out herself with a warm welcome. Everything was made from organic local ingredients with layers of flavor from creative (but not fussy) combinations of organic local ingredients. Even the cocktails contained local liquors such as Posh (sugar cane based) and Comiteco (agave based). My best culinary experience in Mexico. A fine dining proposition, but without pretention, fully local and original. I had the mole and it was divine, different from the usual rustic mole served in Puebla. Eventually I found a very well cooked chicken in Mexico. The desert was very good too. Impressive! This place should be on the list of any food amateur, and is a real chance to experience fine dining at an affordable price! (for westerners unfortunately).
This is the best restaurant I’ve experienced in Mexico. Better than Pujol, better than anything in Oaxaca. There should be a line out of the door…but I’m glad there wasn’t, as the two of us waltzed in at 3pm and had our best meal of the year. Beef rib tacos easily the best tacos we’ve ever eaten, and the pumpkin seed aguachile is a flavor explosion. Incredible service from Alfredo. beautiful cocktails. It’s so nice to get haute cuisine with the stuffy service that usually comes with it—I felt so at home. We’re going back tomorrow, that much is certain!!
