This is my very last time eating at Topo. I just spent $22 on the WORST Chicken Ban Mei Sandwich & Taro chips I've ever had. The bread was old & dry. The chicken was cut into super thin strips and was so over grilled I couldn't chew it! When the male waiter/owner asked me how it was I told him not good, he just ignored me & gave me my the check anyway. He didn't offer a substitute or to have a new Sandwich made. I love Pandam Room & am going to mention this experience the next time I go there since they are owned by the same family. BUT, will NEVER eat at Topo again. I've never had such bad food & service at Topo in the 6yrs I've been going there. I'm very disappointed & irritated at the lack of caring & professionalism. Wasted time & money. Nice little restaurant in the heart of Hackettstown! The Taro fries were delicious (the sauce is so good), tasty bubble tea, miso soup was yummy, and all our meals were great. This place is so cute. the hospitality is simply unparalleled. The owners are adorable and so sweet. They will literally open up a little pouch and give you quarters to feed the Old parking meters while you have your meal. There’s obviously a lot of care that goes into the broth, which, as we know, is the basis of happiness as one shifts into soup mode for the season. Reasonably priced from what I remember but really it’s the proportions that seal the deal. I won’t make exaggerated claims about mountains of noodles and brisket, but it’s more than fair which beats out at least one Vietnamese restaurant nearby. Lemon grass steamed dumplings were great! Pho broth was amazing, asked for the rare beef pho, it was not rare! Beef tasted old. Booths were dated and need a revamp. Service was lackadaisical. My first ever time eating Vietnamese food. I ordered the rare beef pho. And chicken dumplings. Both were very tasty and the sauce that came with the dumplings was so oddly flavorful. I couldn't put my finger on what it was but it was delicious. The pho was great. The broth was full and the beef was perfectly cooked. I couldn't finish it It was such a large portion for the price, a rarity in these times. And i can LITERALLY kill a whole pizza on my own. The topo tea was delicious as well. I wish I got like 5 refills to take home Lee is an incredibly good owner/operator /manager. The service is literally bar none. His son V showed me the proper way to use chop sticks (i was struggling on small things) but I aint no wimp. Use a fork if you're weak The atmosphere is calm. The bathrooms are spotless, my one and only complaint was the music. Flo Rida was playing and that made me want to unalive, but that's not anything topo is responsible for. 10/10 and a must try for anyone in the area.
