Luckily we only stopped there, since we were mildly hungry and didn’t want to sit directly in the Main Street. The location above in the tree house really provides a nice view and gets you out of the exhaust fumes. And the staff were also very kind. That’s about it for the positives. Otherwise the atmosphere is tacky. Dirty. And not well maintained. We ordered vegan burgers and potato wedges. Half an hour later we ended up with the information that there is no burgers and a couple of diced and still mostly raw potatoes. After asking for them to be re-cooked twice we just gave up, paid the inappropriately high bill and left. The potatoes were inedible and we felt lucky that our remaining order was out of stock. So for food, don’t go there. For everything else, it really didn’t look recommendable, however that’s only from the look and smell of it.

Tree House Café/Hostel is an amazing place in the mountains of Ella. It is very close to the train station but still a bit off the beaten track with excellent view over the mountains so it has the perfect location. Praneed is the best host you could ever imagine, he will help you out with anything you ask him for. He organised a scooter for me & I lost the key in a monastery, one call & he picked me up there in the middle of the night. Also he offers super affordable dinner with excellent quality. 10/10 recommend!

We have tried Annasi bath rice curry. It was absolutely amazing dish! Full of flavor, not spicy, very exotic. Perfect meal. We even have come back other day to eat it again.

I like everything here. Cozy decoration, clean room, amazing view, convenient location, good food and the host is super kind. This is the best place I have stayed through my trip in Sri Lanka.

Wow wow wow! Just a perfect place to have a few nights near Ella! Damith is really friendly and offers excellent service. The food is traditionally and fresh cooked only for us! Beautiful view with some monkeys visiting. We just loved it and will definitely come back! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I ordered a vegetarian burger for 950 rupees, which is already a good amount of money. What did i get? A very small, cold burger with some salad inside. Thats it. No veg patty, fries on the side, nothing. Just a tiny cold salad burger. I complained and they gave me some salad and 2 slices of toast for free, so that at least i dont feel hungry anymore. But still, it is ridiculous!

I loved everything about this hostel. The owners are so lovely, kinda and always will to help or give advice. He is also very artistic and built the place and all the fittings by himself. The location is fantastic- feels like your in a remote location because of the surroundings but it's only 300m to the train station and to town. Did I mention how delicious the breakfast is. He is also accomodating to different eating times. I needed to get some work done and was a great place to focus and relax!

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights in the tent. We had an amazing time. The owned is super friendly and kind and over delivers in every way. The breakfast is tasty and made with a lot of love. We have been traveling for around 4 months through India, Nepal and Srilanka and at this place we experienced the best hospitality. If you look for a place to stay in Ella, you found your place ;) Enjoy the beautiful Ella and the amazing rooftop
