The friendliest, best service I have experience in a while. Staff going more than the extra mile to ensure guest's comfort. Owners treat guests like friends and food was amazing. Will definitely visit again!
We really enjoyed our stay here. From when we arrived to when we left. It was excellent. Room was great, food was great and we enjoyed relaxing by the pool. They really make sure that you are comfortable
We picked Vioolsdrift lodge as it was close to the border and didn't want to deal with border officials after a long drive. On my next trip, I'd rather cross and stay on the other side. Firstly the location of the place is both great and terrible. Great for the closeness but terrible for the noise. Strange people hanging around, swearing and making tons of noise, not even to mention the trucks passing by. Love the simplicity of the room, however it was dirty! Not convinced the bedding was clean and the inside of the kettle was something out of a horror movie. About 30 mins after our arrival we heard the owner scream at someone (not sure if it was a guest or an employee). This was really unnerving for two females sleeping in a strange place with nowhere else to go. The shouting continued for a while, but basically, he told the person to get the f*** out. I don't stand for any form of abuse, I won't support someone like this. The receptionist was lovely (the only reason I gave it 2 stars).
I CANNOT recommend Vioolsdrift Lodge at all!! where we slept over near the border on our trip to Namibia. It is a horrible filthy place!! Bedding and towels were super poor, NOT clean! I could no convince myself to sleep on those OLD filthy pillows! They were freakish!! NO blanket on the bed!! On the zinc was a dark blue smelly dish-cloth, which we could not even touch. The kettle was dirty, the shower ABSOLUTE UNACCEPTABLE STINKY and MESSY! We could NOT take a shower. Local people started a party in the afternoon and VERY LOUD music was blaring from two cars UNTIL 02:00. At that stage I had to go out in the cold night and REQUEST them to STOP the noisy party. Needless to say: We could NOT SLEEP. I have sent e-mail to the owner, mr De Gouveia to complain about the bad conditions and he PROMISED and OFFER to pay back our deposit. He just got deadly silent after his promise..... and just IGNORE us until now, 4 months later..... Therefore I recommend : DO NOT STAY AT VIOOLSDRIFT LODGE IN A CABIN!!
The rooms are super clean and neat. Very practical layout - especially the houses in the front row facing the road.
The road noise was not a bother. Loved the walk-in shower - lots of space. Great server - great location for overnight stay when crossing the border. We loved it. Especially the wild life that hides when you get to close.
Only observation - extend that promised WiFi to all the rooms - it would be appreciated.
Shocking client service. We have been waiting since 1Aug for a refund from Vioolsdrift Lodge. The lodge double charged my parents who slept there for one night due to poor admin on the lodge’s side. Very poor service with a lot of excuses.
Owner is a piece of work, u dont get a key to the gate, u get a curfew. And if u voice ur concern to the owner he just kicks u out. Ugly piece of work he is, very rude and disrespectful. U get a sense your skin color also makes a difference in how u get treated there(by the owner), never going back there would be too soon.
After making our reservations two weeks early, made payment and received confirmation, we arrived at 17h00 after a long drive. Great was our disappointment when we found the lodge locked up and nobody answering any of the three phone numbers on the gate. We waited for an hour without anybody turning up. At 16.00 we started looking for alternative accommodation and was eventually fortunate to find accommodation at another lodge close by.|All efforts to get our money back from Vioolsdrift Lodge were met with deadly silence.|Will never go back there.
Our stay at Vioolsdrift Lodge was marred by poor hygiene standards – the room seemed neglected, with dusty surfaces and a musty smell|| ||The staff's lack of responsiveness at Vioolsdrift Lodge left me frustrated; requests for assistance were met with indifference, making for an overall disappointing experience.||||I hung up my keys at the gate and left the same day.
