Amazing that this place is still going! Established in 1946, it will probably still be around in 2046. It has grown substantially since I knew it in the 80s and 90s. The service is good, waiters coming to your car. The range of burgers is amazing and the portions are very generous. It won't make my top 10 burger places, but the setting and the nostalgia of the place makes it a very worthwhile visit when in East London. For reference, I had the cheese melt burger and my mom had the chicken fillet burger. Hers was far nicer than mine, simply because the cheese sauce was a bit overwhelming. I usually do a take out, what is amazing about it is the fact that you order from your car and the foid is delivered to you, they also bring the speed point to you. Today I went to have a glass of wine while waiting for my bus, the service was amazing, the views were beautiful and the atmosphere was amazing especially because I had beautiful sea views. I bought lamb chops but I could not eat them because they are rotten. One bite was enough and I couldn’t even chew it😭😭😭 Food: 1

Food is never great here anymore but today took the cake. The cream cheese on the burger was like someone had accidentally dropped a bucket. Burger was wet and soggy with sauce🤮🤮 like come on guys, you can't be serious. I couldn't even finish the meal. 0/5 if I could. Best take aways in town, year after year. U loved the beef Curry. Also best slap chips ever! Friendly happy staff makes the food taste even better. Keep it up WindMill.

In terms of Roadhouses this ticks most boxes. If you're in the mood for generous portions and not too concerned about the waist line then this is probably the place you want to go. Wide menu selection, food was good and milkshakes went down well. Alot of parking and staff are on-the-ball here when it comes to service. Not much to complain or rave about. They have a decent variety kids menu too.

Unfortunately the area itself is a bit scary. EL beachfront should be mostly avoided unless necessary. Be warned, the Windmill toilets are always dirty, they are not just for the road house but the general public too. We visited for the first time. The roadhouse style was abit confusing and weren't away of the signals of putting your hazards on and hooting which other people were doing.
