While traveling with my family in Norway, we stopped by Kongsberg city and decided to grab a bite at Wood Oven pizzeria. We tried three pizzas and they were all incredibly tasty! Waiting time was ~15 minutes and it was totally worth it. If you're ever in Kongsberg, make sure to swing by Wood Oven for some delicious pizza!

Amazing Italian style pizza. I was skeptical of the high rating, but it’s definitely some of the best pizza we’ve had outside of Italy.
We stopped while on a road trip. Unfortunately, there’s no seating there so we just ate outside our car. I’d definitely stop here again, but I’d probably drive down the road a bit to eat along the river.

I just had the Red Stripe and Meat Feast, and I must say, the Red Stripe was like a slice of Detroit right here in Norway. The Detroit style pizza, reminiscent of classics from Jets and Buddy's back home, is nothing short of perfection. The crust, golden and crispy, encapsulates the essence of authenticity, bringing me back to the streets of Detroit with every bite.
The cheese-to-crust ratio is a work of art, reminiscent of the Motor City's pizza legacy. The flavors meld seamlessly, creating a symphony of taste that could rival any pizzeria in the heart of Detroit. The attention to detail in replicating the Detroit style is commendable, making this wood oven gem a must-visit for any fellow Detroit pizza aficionado.
But the excellence doesn't stop there. The Italian pizza at this establishment is equally impressive. The thin, delicate crust serves as the perfect canvas for a medley of fresh, high-quality toppings. From the robust tomato sauce to the perfectly melted cheese, each element contributes to a harmonious flavor profile that transports your taste buds straight to Italy.
The wood oven imparts a smoky essence that elevates both the Detroit and Italian styles to new heights. The commitment to using traditional, quality ingredients is evident in every bite, reflecting a genuine passion for crafting exceptional pizzas.
The ambiance complements the culinary experience, creating a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The staff's warmth and enthusiasm add to the overall positive impression, making it a place where you not only savor outstanding pizza but also feel a sense of culinary connection.
Kongsberg's Woodoven Pizza has successfully captured the essence of Detroit's pizza culture, offering a delightful journey for the taste buds. Whether you're a die-hard fan of Detroit style or craving the finesse of Italian pizza, this place is a gastronomic haven that bridges the gap between Norway and the Motor City. A true gem in Kongsberg's culinary scene that I highly recommend for any pizza connoisseur, especially those with a Detroit palate.
