The food in this place is the embodiment of 真材实料 (good and pure ingredients). So simple, but done so well. The porridge is their signature and was good, but I was impressed with the steamed lala - meaty, sweet and fresh. See last photo for a table of empty plates merely 30 mins after serving 😋

Very fresh fish meat and tasty porridge. My kids loved it. Found this by chance when searching for foods for our Legoland trip. 莎白 clams were very fresh. Roast pipa duck was good too. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person RM 40–60 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

“Woon Yin Claypot Seafood Porridge Garden Restaurant” is my latest find in Johor which I am very pleased with. A casual but air-conditioned place, I feel their signature seafood porridge faces stiff competition from their other dishes. More specifically, the fish items. Here is a rundown of what we ordered for lunch and my thoughts on each of them… 1. Stewed Fish Lips (100gms: 15 Ringgit, total: 105 Ringgit) – I will just say #IYKYK because not everyone can appreciate the unctuous gelatinous goodness that comes bubbling in an immensely aromatic dark sauce with loads of “khng chye”. 2. Dragon Tongue Fish – I have not come across this specie in Singapore but my parents and I enjoyed them so much, a second round was needed. Deepfried to a crunch, they are long and rather flat, and possess a distinctly sweet moist meat. Apart from the spine, the entire fish is completely edible. A must-try in my opinion. 3. Claypot Fish, Minced Pork and Fish Ball Porridge (large: 56 Ringgit) – Really satisfying with plentiful ingredients. I didn’t expect to enjoy the fishballs that much but their springy texture and fresh taste proved otherwise. The large serving we got was enough for the six of us but do note we ordered a number of other dishes too. 4. Steamed Squid in Spicy Lime Sauce (36 Ringgit) – I highly recommend this because apart from the squid’s remarkable tenderness, the lip-smacking sauce is intense in all the right ways. 5. Pork Belly with Mashed Garlic (22 Ringgit) – Simple but superb with the golden bits of fried garlic taking a back seat to the natural sweetness of the meat. 6. Otak Otak (13 Ringgit) – Chunky and fragrant, just the way I like it. 7. Chinese Spinach with Garlic (12 Ringgit) – Decently done plate of greens. Am pleased it wasn’t overcooked. 8. Sambal Kangkong (12 Ringgit) – That day’s vegetable was a tad fibrous but the savoury sambal is the kind I like. For drinks, the Kedondong’s my fave. And if you’re curious, the bill for the six of us came to 385 Ringgit with rice and drinks. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person RM 40–60 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Seems like a new outlet chain. The 666 Da Shun Claypot Soup with Vermicelli is very nice and exquisite. The rest of the dish is also good just that the Steamed Leopard Coral Grouper Head meat is quite tough. Nice environment with free Wifi. Can try this place if you like seafood and soupy stuff Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person RM 60–80 Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 5

Nice awesome seafoods porridge! 3 of us had the mid-size 六六大顺set. The porridge was filled with seafood freshness n sweet. Would eat this again anytime. We also had the Lala dish, the Lala are bigger n chewier than those in the porridge, tasted great too. The Chinese spinach was just right, not overcooked n had the fresh green looks nice fresh taste. The only disappointment perhaps is the fresh oysters , while it is wholesomely big it lack the punch lack the sea smell n taste. I will not order this again. But overall it’s a great taste seafood porridge that I would be back for more. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person RM 200+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

31 Dec 2023. Was looking for brunch before returning to Singapore via Tuas Link. Could not find any eateries that were open except Woon Yin. So had "only choice" to eat at Woon Yin. And it turned up "only choice" became GOOD CHOICE. We ordered Crab porridge (M) & Steamed scallops. Yummy!! Together with a glass of Honey Lemon drink, total cost RM171.25 (S$50.30) Service Dine in Meal type Breakfast Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
