Our breakfast at Zama was one of our favorites in Mexico. It has some American breakfast influences but still has the great flavor of traditional Mexican food. The space is beautiful, with the contrasting turquoise dining chairs. The servers were warm and welcoming. Great place to go, wish we could have tried their lunch and dinner options.

We honestly had an amazing time in Zamá. The food was outstanding, we had dinner on the first day in Sisal and then went back for breakfast the next day, as the food was so good the day before.
I forgot to take a photo of the breakfast, this is an image of the beef burger. It was really tasty.
The service was as good as the food, the staff were so friendly and made us feel very welcome. They helped translate the menu for us too. 10 out of 10.

If you really want to eat something delicious you need to go to Zamá, it was a wonderful experience the music the waitresses and the food (which it's the most important) was excellent all of them are really kind and treated person's well I love how them maybe don't know a lot of the English, but they trying to communicate with me, they were really sweet
the food was amazing, I mean all the flavours in the empalme was on point especially the sausage thing I don't really remember what is it, but it was fantastic and the coffee smell and taste so good.Sadly I can't try they orange juice, but it seems amazing I hope them could have the juice again
Gracias por un muy buen desayuno!

It is correct that this is fusion food and that they create from local dishes and ingredients. The result is outstanding. Presentation of food, quality and freshness, integrating vegetables and greens, use of herbs. Unlike many modern or fusion restaurants, portions are ample. All this in a peaceful atmosphere with of a beautiful simple room and solid wood tables. The chairs… well they look cool but not the most comfy.
All this quality is a small beach /fishing community, at the two of Yucatán, in Sisal, Even the music appealed… if you like chill electronic. This place would fit in in Merida or Mexico City, for progressive approach. Service , very good, attentive, Spanish with a little english.

We were so impressed with the food at Zama, we ate dinner and both breakfasts during our short stay in Sisal. The quality of ingredients, preparation and presentation of the food was just outstanding, at a level you would expect in Merida! They even prepared an amazing chocolate, coffee tort you might find at a french patisserie. Also, the friendliest of servers who helped us with our poor spanish while they learned some english. Excellent!

After researching restaurants online and reading many reviews, we chose Zama. The restaurant looked nice and the menu choices seemed interesting, so we walked to Zama from our rental house. That's were the fun ends. The waitress was quick to take our order, but when my partner received her beer, it came in an unopened bottle. So, we dug around to find a lighter to open the bottle ourselves. My cocktail, which was a mojito, failed to arrive for the next 27 minutes. The waitresses kept reassuring me that the drink was on its way, but that was obviously untrue. When the drink finally arrived, I was excited because it looked fresh and refreshing. But to my dismay, the mojito was almost undrinkable. It was so sweet and sour that my gums hurt after taking one drink.
Now, on to the food.
I hadn't eaten much this day, so I was hungry and looking forward to the gourmet, yet simple, hamburger on the menu. The waitress made a point to ask how I wanted the burger cooked, and I said, "Medium, thank you". When the burger arrived it looked great at first glance, but I was let down again. The patty was overcooked and tough, the brioche bun was falling apart and there was only a teaspoon of caramelized onion smashed between the patty and bun. Oh, I almost forgot. When the food was placed in front of us, it didn't come with any utensils or napkins. Eventually, the waitress came back with one set of utensils for my partner and said she'd be back with more. At this point, I literally said, "Am I in the Twilight Zone?" Just for reference, the restaurant was not busy and it's touted as an upscale business. We've spent time at other local restaurants that were very busy and ran out of the family's home. We had much better food and service at those restaurants.
Finally, when we were ready to leave, my partner wanted a to-go box for her mediocre chicken tacos. I was surprised by this, because she ate one of the three tacos and it looked they marinaded said meat in some kind of flaming hot red dye 40. The waitress looked at us surprised and informed us that they do not have boxes, but she could find some tinfoil. I mean how does this fancy restaurant not have boxes? Every other restaurant in town has had to-go boxes. Even the restaurants that are operated out of the owners home or garage have had to-go boxes!
In conclusion, our experience at Zama was exceptional... exceptionally BAD! You could literally find a building that is crumbling around itself, with unneutered dogs poking you in the knees that sold better food and had better service than Zama.
I write this to you as a cautionary tale. Good luck.

What an unexpected gem in Sisal! We were here for three days and quickly discovered that there are very few restaurants open in December here - Zama was one of the places we found and had two breakfasts here. The dining area is really beautiful, the service was perfect (thank you for being so patient with our very rusty Spanish!), and everything we ordered was delicious. We had the BAE, avocado toast, and chilaquiles verde. Loved the little cookies sent out with the coffees. Thank you!!
